Has anyone traveled to the Maritimes towing their 40 foot fifth wheel? Are there large enough campgrounds out there? Would you rather have had a smaller trailer for this trip?

I'm asking as I will hopefully be traveling there next summer and two different couples recommend a smaller trailer instead of a 40 foot fifth wheel. What are your thoughts about this?

Traveled through the Maritimes with a 30' 5er years back , didn't have issues with length in Parks , on, Cape Perce, PEI , Halifax ,or at Hopewell Rocks .

The problem I had was with the road along the St. Lawrence River , from Rimouski to the end of the Gaspe . I towed the 5er for 5 years and 100,000kms and never broke a thing till I traveled that route.
Only place I've seen signage , indicating your vehicle may be swept off the road by waves.

We did this trip last summer. We use Park Advisor and google maps to look over campgrounds. We had no issues anywhere in NB, NS. Ontario we ran into tight ones, but manageable. I was 35ft plus a tandem tow with motorcycle and car behind me for overall length of 68ft.
I highly recommend reserving ahead of time.......we did not and had to do last minute searching a couple of times. Bay of Fundy area especially.

We traveled all over the Maritimes with a 34 ft DP pulling a 24 ft trailer full of touring motorcycles. We never had any problems anywhere we went. You will love the east coast. Ive been there four times, and will be going back again in the next few years. I find the Bay of Fundy just fascinating.

I am looking forward travel to maritime. Its undoubtedly beautiful. You should definitely go and yes do share your experience.

We live in New Brunswick and I would say you should have very little issue with your rig. We have a 43' and have stayed all over the Maritimes. As with any trip, perform your due diligence and reserve ahead. If you would like a few regions to consider I can help you with that.

2017 we went to Newfoundland via Labrador and Northern Quebec. We boondocked 80% of the time but had no real issues, lots of RVs. I was lucky our 32' 5er was not longer only because I went offroad several times or went places I shouldn't and had to U-turn on a dime, tough with a 40' trailer.

We returned via Nova Scotia and New Brunswick but didn't use any campgrounds. Been there before and no issues for size either.

Beware the roads were pretty rough, I had modified things on the RV, needs to be a SOLID unit. We have seen some with major damage from the logging roads we went on in Labrador and some in Newfoundland.
