We are taking our maiden trip in our new to us camper van from Vancouver Island to PEI in just a few days and would like to hear anyones views on which is the better route to go, Canada vs. US. We have 9 days to get there if all goes well. ~Kathy & Dave

i have taken the Canadian route many times, and have traveled south of the border many times as well.the Canadian route by far is the best one. IMO.when i did longhaul trucking, i could be in Toronto 5 days from Vancouver, easy driving.

Since I drove ALL (nearly) roads in Canada during my business years,
I give you two choices:

1. If you want to go fast and cheaper on FUEL, go the US roads, as long as you can. You save even money, when you take the WA Ferry from Sidney
(about half price).

2. If you like to see Canadia you stick to #1 until Kamloops and go via Barrie, Jasper, Edmonton, Saskatoon and in Manitoba you hit # 1 again.
Takes a day or two longer, but you see a lot more.

For a smoother road, try #2 across the praries. There are many small towns with municipal campgrounds. You will have to head north to Windypeg when you hit Winkler Manitoba. See the rest of the maritimes as you will allready be out there. Your trip would be shorter if Querbeck had seperated.
