Can anyone recommend the best route to Arizona from Vancouver BC. I plan on leaving first week in Dec.

Where in AZ? Have you tried a Google Maps routing?

In my opinion, this time of year I5 is the best route down to avoid snow and freezing. Any further east route increases your chance of freezing and snow. Also, if it looks like snow in the mountains on I5 you can cut over to the coast where it generally only rains. I'll be doing the same trip soon, I5 to Bakersfield then east on 58 to 395 south to 215 south to I10 west to Quartzsite. Good popular stops are: Oregon- Seven Feathers Casino (Canyonville) and In California- Rolling Hills Casino (Corning). Once you are in Corning the weather should not be an issue.

That is good advise - it's the route we usually take.

Seven Feathers also has a promotion running for $19/night. It's well worth checking out.

Just checked the Seven Feathers web site and I don't see that promotional rate. Can you point me to it please?

Otherwise I'll overnight in the free zone near the casino.

We got an email from them with a coupon explaining the promo.

It's a great offer. We're going to Florida in January 2017 but if we were doing our usual Vancouver to Arizona, we'd be stopping there again. But then, we'd likely be stopping there promotion or no promotion.

Enjoy!

I would concur with the above advice also.
If it was earlier in the year I would have advised another route but you certainly don't want to take a chance of hitting winter weather.

I speak from current experience. I just made a trek from Seattle to Florida and wish I had gone a different route. Lets just say that hitting snow in the mountains and after sunset is not fun. Having your wiper fail during it is even less fun.

So, go where there will not be any snow.

Have done the advised route several times in the past years. With the bad road conditions of I5 Scaramento to Stockton, on recommendations from some, tried Hwy 99. In my opinion "not a good choice". To much traffic and narrow road.
Be sure to put The Orange Grove on your RV park list as this is our favorite stop on the trip.

Also From BC and Considering a Trip to Arizona -- HELP?

I have a sister who winters in Yuma and really wants us to go there, but we are not sure if its the right spot for us.

We visited her once before and it just doesn't seem like there is much in Yuma. We are wondering if the general Phoenix area might work better for us. It would be nice to closer to some concerts and hockey games!

Does anyone have any advice on different areas in Arizona? Thanks.

The Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield is a regular stop for us and provides a chance to grap a bag of fresh Navel oranges fresh off the tree. At $38/nt it is a little expensive for just the oranges but it has become a regular stop for us. After Orange Grove we take Hwy-58 east to Barstow and then I-40 across the river into Arizona and Arizona Hwy-95 down to Quartzsite.

Ron...I'm, curious why you take I40 to Arizona and down 395? I have always gone down I15 to I10. Is there an advantage I am missing? Quieter roads, better roads? Cheaper Gas etc? Is the weather comparable?
Thanks for any insight on that route.

Don't forget the free donuts served in the office every morning.
