Retired Newbies

Hello hello!
We just bought our first used 5er. Its been sitting for 3 years so it will need a good going over mechanically and for sure new tires. It is very clean and in great condition otherwise. We pick it up from London next Monday and will tow it home -near Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula. I am excited about traveling South this winter! Any suggestions for us old newbies is definately welcome!

Sitting in Kelowna , travel medical starts Fri. so can't cross the border till then , hope the increased terror threat doesn't reflect in increased screening. Snow forecast down to 1200meters, here , friends reporting back from Jackpot NV. They left a week ahead; and I'm planning the same route; , said -6c there last night.

92f, daytime 68 overnight, in my winter park; anyone got a spare teleporter in their back pocket.

Retired Newbies

We got our 2006 Jayco 24.5 back from the service shop and it is now ready to go. All New tires, all new brakes, couple of new springs, new front awning, added slide out awning and checked all propane and furnace and ac. Also adjusted the trailer to sit level on our tv. I have started to pack it and wonder what others do to ensure the dishes stay put? Also if leaving from Ontario headed for Florida, where do others De-Winterize? thanks for any help you offer.

On our last 5er, rear kitchen model , DW used to stuff the cupboards with foam pillows, over the years she has switched out from glass wear to 90% plastic, for drinking, and the corral dishes hold up well. Remember any glass bottles should be loaded as close to the floor as possible , on the floor preferred; and avoid overloading cupboards with heavy items , canned goods should be on the floor too.
A/F, removal , kind of depends if your staying in the trailer at nights , or hoteling it during the trip. Staying in trailer, check forecasts for your route , looking for temps well above freezing; hotels , leave A/F in system till you reach your destination. Remember to factor in wind chill, and since this is a new to you unit , error on the side of caution. If the temps seem ify leave the A/F in, better a few days of no water than weeks of dealing with frozen pipes.

Skip, last I read, wind chill does not affect coldblooded or other inanimate things.

It only works on warm blooded.

Maybe why I sometimes can take the cold well.
