I just posted in another Cat. Perhaps I should have found this one first; however, I will be traveling out west this year and am trying to schedule a time frame for being where and when. My question - The best months for visiting THE FOUR CORNERS, Any feedback will be appreciated.

September-October is best Late April-mid June is second best in my opinon. Temps are about the same in both periods but usually less wind in the fall. Temps are 70's days 40's night. Can be a little higher or lower if there is a cool front come thru or we have a late fall. Mid Oct can be colder in CO Mountain area including snow some times. Do CO mid late sept and see the colors change then move south and west.

Most times you can still travel pretty weather free till Thanksgiving barring an occsional fast moving storm, they ussually only last a day or two and the weather gets nice again. Kind of the same way before mid April, storms bring wind and cooler weather for a couple of days then it might be nice for another week.

July, August get warmer, most of the time high 80 to 90 but can top 100, the further west and south the hotter it gets.

Well, we own a vacation home and RV park in Dolores, Colorado www.cozycomfortrvpark.com (on the road to Telluride, just NW of Cortez), so we go to that area at all different times of year. We love all the seasons (also sometimes love leaving them). If you want to avoid snow, follow Don and Sarah's advice. If you're going up in elevation (Telluride, Ouray, Silverton, Durango)... summer is awesome. We love to ski so we go up in the winter, but NOT in the coach. What do you want to do when you go?

Brenda & Tony / Don & Sarah,

This is the kind of feedback that I really appreciate. Length of time is not a factor. Any suggestions on what we should see in particular? We usually just meander until we
find what we want to look at. We are from the East and are invigorated by the West.. PULLEY

Pulley,

We were in the Four Corners area about two months ago. We stayed about 10 days at the Towac Indian Casino.

The Casino has a decent RV park with reasonable rates. The wifi there is free if you can get a signal.

For places to visit, the cliff dewelings at Mesa Verde National Park are well worth the trip, also the Anasazzi Musem is a must see.

We also spent four days about 20 miles west of Delores at Preist Gulch. Reservations are necessary there. The campground is surrounded by national forest with great forest service roads for getting out into nature.

Not too far away is Monument Valley. Spent four days there at Gouldings. Great place to visit. Reminded me of when I was a kid watching old western movies.

Its a great area to visit. Plenty to do and see.

Tony

Thanks Tony.
Your travels may be a part of mine.
We enjoy cliff dwelling as well. I too
think of old cowboy movies when we were in the
BADLANDS and many other places out west. I appreciate your feedback. Perhaps we will meet
on the road someday.

If I were to ever own a campground I'd want it to be like Priest Gultch... Very nice.
