A Trip North
Bear and I are leaving this Saturday - 5/18/19 - for a long weekend concert in the park (Strawberry Music Festival - strawberrymusic.com) in Grass Valley, CA. I'll be taking a rout around LA (obviously) hooking up with Hwy 5 (NOT Hwy 99 thank you!!! ) and heading north.
Leaving Saturday for a 544 mile trip that doesn't begin until the following Thursday gives me several days to simply goof off... more so than this trip is purely for... well, goofing off!!!!
But with this proposed rout (with me, nothing is cast-in-concrete), any suggestion as to places for us to stop and see and or things to do along the way???
Thanks

Please tell me you are kidding?
You are from California and asking what to see locally.
I lived in California off and on since 1960. After our last two trips visiting friends and family, I have labeled California the 'No State'.
Too many people and too many rules. Not MH friendly.
Having said that Highway 1 to the bay area is a beautiful drive if you are not in a hurry. I also like like the gold country on 49.
Another option is to get to Grass Valley as fast as you can and explore north and east.

Anything south of Canada is not north. Come on up and see us, we will show you north. Cheers.

5 is pretty exciting.......well that's if you like orchards.
There is a Andersen's Pea Soup in Santa Nella.

Not that I am aware of. Maybe shoot over to Napa? The Napa Valley Expo is a good place to stay. Walkable to town.

NO! Stockton is a depressed area and Sacramento is fast becoming the homeless capitol of California! Check out mount Shasta instead

Well, you said you were leaving yesterday, so I assume it’s to late to warn you off the 5 north of Avenal. The condition of the road caused damage to our coach both inside and out.
In Sacramento check out Sutter’s Fort and Old Town. Grass Valley is much nicer and I’d spend my time there and in Nevada City and Auburn. Where are you staying?

Yep. I breezed through those two cities and agree.
Made it to Auburn for lunch and then Grass Valley area. Any good/reasonable RV parks anyone can suggest?
Thanks

Well, that’s the problem up there. Our kids have a farm up there so we just usually park there. Auburn Gold Country is a decent park, in the city of Auburn right next to Target, but they are not always easy to get into. lots of long term renters. Although we enjoyed it when we stayed there. Nevada County Fairgrounds is a big grass parking lot with hookups, you’re music festival is at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, so that would be convenient. Auburn RV Resort is on the 80 and Bell road. It gets good reviews, but we’ve never seen it.

Wound up getting Monday/Tuesday at the In Town RV Park in Nevada City, CA. Apparently this is a very busy time of year.
Hope to not get a ticket for parking next to a Park 'n Ride spot in Auburn. Fingers crossed.

The Strawberry Festival is over and... we were there. Not what we expected, but... interesting.
We're remaining at the Nevada County Fairgrounds for the holiday not being in any rush and wanting to avoid everyone else's rush to get home.
Now, where next? Our general direction is north ish. Maybe northeast ish. Maybe Reno? Not sure what to expect there. Any suggestions from those who have been through this area? Not into turisty type stuff. More of a nature lover with some cowboy/cowgirl stuff thrown in the mix.
We don't really have a particular time frame. Probably another week or so on the road before heading back to the San Diego area.
