Hello Fellow Campers, We're going to be staying at Paso Picacho Campground near Julian in mid May. I've never been there we just picked the campground from info we found. Anyone familiar with the area? I appreciate any input. Kel.

I haven't been there for while...will be next week...at least in the area...going to Temecula.

Right near there, on the way, is Dudley's Bakery. They make their own bread and people come from miles around to get it. Make sure you stop in for a warm loaf of fresh-baked bread. Julian is nice...better in the fall...with the apple harvest. I haven't been to that campground, but you will enjoy the area. There's an old Butterfield Stage Route in the area as well.

We live in Julian and it is one of the best places to visit in SD County IMHO.

I fyou're looking for shopping malls, theaters, amusement parks, etc. then you'll have a long drive ahead of you.

If you want peace & quiet, nature, friendly small town and of course the famous apple pies then this is the place!

Thanks Techie, That's just what we're looking for. We're big on serenity, long views, beautiful land formations, local history, and rustic older places that don't ever change. It's funny, but it seems my favorite campgrounds often have older people camping in their older campers that they've had for a long time. That's so cool. Kel.

Just went through Julian last weekend...and it was snowing!!! The snow was hiding a tree limb and ruined our front wheel cover as we were going down 79...We're in Tombstone now and leaving for home tomorrow.

We did stop at Dudley's...great bread...wanted to stop at Mom's for apple pie, but no room to stop...waiting lines only.
