Dean:

Gosh...sure hope things are going better for ya. That "itch" should help- nothin' like getting out in the fresh air to take care of a lot of ills! Glad to see ya back here...you take care, OK?

Dean,

What do you mean that they won't do it laproscopically? Because of bleeding. Bleeding is traditionally worse with open choleys verse lapcholes. I have assisted with enough of both to see. The only time that bleeding is bad with laps (microscopic) is if they hit a artery or vein going in with the ports.

Are they worried the the cystic artery (gallbladders artery) is going to be varicosed and unable to be isolated? I know that this is a small area, but a surgeon that has done many of the lap choes. Laproscopic Choles are now the standard of care. Get a second opinion.

Unfortunately, I haven't rotated out your way so I can't help you with phone numbers. I would have GI doctor suggest a surgeon.

Oh, I will see you all this fall. I will be moving back to Phoenix to finish my forth year the end of August. I will be doing some out rotations to "try out" different residencies programs. I pretty sure at this point that I want to be an ER doc.

Take care of yourself Dean.
Give me a call if you want to talk. My cell is still 602-677-5853. I am OB/GYN right now so I am on call every other day so I may not answer if I am in the hospital. OH, daylight savings sucks.
