Hello, been to Mammoth a few times sking/condo..but we would like to take our 26 WW/toy hauler up camping. Im aware of Mammoth rv park.all they have left is concrete slabs.Id like something a little more in the wilderness but not so remote kinda close to town within a 1-3 miles ...(wife thinks we will be eaten by BEARS!) We were looking to go up July31-Aug6.=Blues festival. Id love to hear from anyone that has any ideas, any one camp at New shady rest...? Thanks for your time Dave

You might think about moving this thread up to one of the RV Camping forums higher up the main page. Probably get more viewers and potential answers. I too, am interested in RVing in Mammoth so I'll look for responses to you.
Thanks for posing the question.

The Twin Lakes campground looked really nice but extremely crowded.

The June Lake loop campgrounds are also the same. (Very pretty scenery but crowded).

I usually stay farther north or south of Mammoth to try and avoid the crowds.

One little campground we liked was near Lake Crowley. I believe it was a USFS campground called McGee Creek.

The area is next to a small creek with difficult access for fishing. It overlooks Lake Crowley. I watched a 40' MH come in and sandwich into one of the sites so it can be done.

My smaller size MH made it in with no problem.

Convict Lake isn't bad either. Very nice setting and scenery. Boat rentals, hiking, fishing. Campsites are a little tight but if you have a 26' toy hauler it should be ok.

Thanks for the input. I'll move this post to the RC camping forum.
