My wife and I plan to leave Phoenix, AZ February and drive I-10 to Palm Springs. We don't have an itenerary so we are free to go wherever and whenever we want. We are interested in staying in the S. California area for about two weeks. We plan to stop in Quartsite just to see what it is all about, although we have heard that most of the RV vendors will have left Quartsite by Feb. Other than stopping at Quartsite we don't have any other plans. We'd love to hear from people familiar with the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area about things to do and "must see" places.

Thanks for any information that you can provide.

We haven't been there yet either, but we too are planning a trip to the Palm Springs area in February. We will wait until we see clear skys in the forcast before we make reservations.

So here is some information (website) we found that may be helpful.

By all means take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and get some relief from the desert heat. There are several hiking trails with spectacular views and you can take a lunch break at the top of the tram. Nice way to spend a little cooler day. Hope you enjoy....and be sure to try it in the winter when the town is really hopping...great places to eat and some of the best golf courses around.

Salton Sea is an interesting place for a couple of days. Hook-ups or boondocking at a nearby state or county park.

Joshua Tree National Forest is a great place to sightsee and camp. Don't miss it. No hook ups.
