We plan to meet up with other family members in a RV Park in either Texas or New Mexico in early October. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good RV Park in the area near Almagordo? Also places of interest that we might want to see in this area. any information to help us plan this trip would be appreciated. Thank you !

The mountains just east of Almagordo would be the best place. Cloudcroft is the first town east of Almagordo, but you should not take a large motorhome up that mountain. Go to Ruidosa instead. This is a great area with lots of large RV parks in the forrest, all with good rates. There is a large casino and great shopping and food.
Regards,
Mike Stephenson

Thanks for your help in finding a good campsite. I am checking on these for the second week in October.

I just saw this post, sorry. I live in the area, Las Cruces. Boothill RV park in Almo is good. Short distance in toad to Ruidoso, Cloudcroft, White Sands National Monument, NM Space Center, White Sands Missile Range Museum, Old Town Mesilla, Sun Spot observation point. Lots of good places to eat and lots of good places for the camera. I would recommend the full moon program at White Sands National Monmuent, if you are here during a full moon. Have fun, eat lots of chile, red or green is the question, and spend lots of $.

Thanks for the suggestions on rv parks, we have decided to stay up near Alto and have narrowed the choices down to either Little Creek RV Park or to Eagle Creek RV. Both look good on their websites, has anyone stayed at either one , if so can you tell me about the Park ?

Thank you for all the help in planning this trip
We just returned home after 2 wonderful weeks in New Mexico. We stayed at the Little Creek RV Park in Alto (Near Ruidosa) Wonderful, friendly staff, Patsy helped us with information and recommendations on great food places in the area. Very dog friendly with a fenced dog run area. Couldn't have stayed at a nicer park !
Beautiful Park, with a herd of 17 deer we saw almost daily (sometimes at our campsite during the night) Park had beautiful Pine trees, nice grass and plenty of shade.
Close enough to Mountains in Cloudcroft (Our favorite spot) White Sands, Space Museum, Imax theatre, Fort Stanton, Lincoln, great shopping in Ruidosa.

Since we went in October, the State Parks were already closed. Some of those looked nice but we were too late in the year to get one.
