We're planning to head south from the Bay Area for Thanksgiving. We're thinking about the Palm Springs area. We've never been, and would appreciate any and all recommendations. We're not looking for a super swanky resort, but would enjoy a nice spot to chill and relax in the desert for a week or so. We're not yet 55, so the 55+ places are out. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Natasha

If you belong to the Elks Club, there is a pretty nice park in Indio for only $17 a night. Also nearby, is Mountain Shadows, but a bit more pricey, although it is a Passport America park for a 50% discount. It's a tad warm, this time of year, though.
