Hi, we are planning our trip to Alaska for next year. We plan to spend August on the Kenai Peninsula and would like some campground recomendations. A quick web search showed a lot of campgrounds with small sites in a parking lot style. We would like a FHU site but with a little room (33' FW and Volvo Tractor as a TV.) We would also take a monthly rate. Any suggestions?

The Kenai is a big place, you might be a little more specific as to what part you are interested in.

We stayed at the Bear Creek RV park in Stewart, OK but nothing fancy, the Kasilof RV park in Kasilof, nicer as to view (in trees, etc, with moose wandering thru the place in the evenings)a mile of dirt road leading in to it, the Homer Spit CG (a parking lot, no sewer hookup, dump station on site), the Russian River USFS CG (dry camping), and the Williwaw USFS campground near Whittier (VERY nice dry camping)...

There is also an excellent campground 3 miles east of Ninilchik. Hosts Chuck and Janet really make sure that your stay is perfect. Excellent showers, toilets, washarama, restaurant, and Fishing Fool Charter for halibut or salmon in the Cook Inlet.

A few years back we drove thru the Russian River CG. If the salmon are running that campgroung gets filled up fast. We are planning a trip next summer (08')to visit my sister-n-law in North Pole AK. but plan to spend a week near the Kenai.

We just got back from a cruise to AK and saw a terrific looking campground in Seward that would be great for a month's stay. It had grass, nicely spaced sites, etc. I can't remember the name of it, but a look in TL or something should show it up and a quick glance at their website should show it. Nicest cg we saw in Ak. You'll love it! We took Renown's Kenai Fjord's trip and had an awesome time. Lots to see in the area. Moose frequent the Nash Rd. area a lot, nice drive to Anchorage, etc.
