Hi campers.I know this will seem like a strange idea for a new rv travel club but I thought I would post anyway.I think most rv groups are probably very social and enjoy meeting at campgrounds or rv parks to visit or share a common interest and of course the potluck.We don't like potluck.We do like happy hour and I think we would like the comfort in knowing we have friends on the same road and friends with good ideas for the next camping trip.Not a social club but a travel club.No potluck,no group photos,no group tours.What do ya think? Bill,Sheila and Beau the exuberant poodle.

Bill & Sheila,
So...what you are saying is meet at a campground or travel together and then just share cocktail-social hours together each evening? Would you "share" hor'dourves?
Interesting concept...and not strange at all!

Bill & Sheila - Sounds pretty good to me; let me give you a couple scenarios:

We belong to FMCA, and a local chapter. A lot of fun (yes, they potluck) but sometimes too much organization for me. Our meetings run to two(!) hours, and we have more officers than members.

Contrast this with our son's motorcycle "club," although you can't really call it that. (He is a grad engineer and a VP of the nations's sixth largest construction company.) Someone posts on their local website, "Let's go (here or there) next Sunday, see you at the coffee shop at 9:00 or so." That is the full extent of their planning, and it works. Someone suggested that as a club, they need officers - everyone threatened to quit.

A coach, to me, is the epitome of unfettered freedom, to the extent it can be in this world today. I don't want it clouded with over-organizing, etc.[/list]So you, my friend, are right on. If I run into you on the road, we'll have our toddy and exchange tips about good routes, parks, and places to see.

I like the idea in general & really like the MC group's methodology that Ken & Carolee mentioned a lot!
It might be fun to meet & greet other's by posting one's itinerary. Might meet others that one would not normally meet (I.E., those that avoid larger organized group events).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Thats my feelings also.
Sounds like a good idea, I agree most organizations are way too organized, and in my eyes way too cliquish.

It's been awhile since I've posted to this group but here goes. In the past we were boaters and in yacht clubs and boat clubs. Very pot luck orientated, organized and with officers. I actually was a office in one. I can tell you we loved the people and destinations but hated the organization and pot lucks. Once in awhile it's OK in small groups because it's easier to cook one item then several.
Happy hours work for me and hor'dourves are great too.
We spent last winter in Arizona and stayed several months at the Palm Creek Golf and RV resort in CasaGrande. Many happy hours and several times we cooked and had people bring hor'dourves. Usually 20 to 30 people. Great times were had by all.
I think we need to perk up this form and make use of it better. I had a post last year as a new comer and got really great information. Thank you.
Happy trails and hope to see some of you on the road.
