Just got to Grand Teton yesterday. Came in east side on 287. Recommend you avoid that route. 70-miles from DuBois to Moran is awful. Logging, Road construction, pilot cars, very rough roads. Probably added almost two hours to trip and probably damaged something in my coach.. I'll bet it takes 1-2 years to finish the construction. Staying at Colter Bay RV park, is very nice but no satellite view, o well. Will leave south through Jackson, hope road is better. It's beautiful here and 43 degrees this morning.

yep, it's fall. Made it in summer 67 the first time to Colter Bay. Kayaked down the Snake River, at least some miles. Still got the sticker from 66 on my folding boat... We should make it to Colter Bay next summer again, after the 2010 iRV2 meet
So much to visit again....Have to REFRESH the earlier years.
Thanks for the road report..... It's THAT BAD????

Enjoy your travel

We drove this route last summer and loved it. The views were amazing. There was still snow in the high country too. Yes, there was road construction and things were slow but we were in no hurry. I would go through there again.

287 was under construction over 2 years ago when we drove it. Must not be any of that free stimulus money flowing to WY road dept.
We watched a bear jogging along the road. Loved Coulter Bay. Trees are why I never installed a dome antenna.

Yes , the road was that bad, we couldn't look at scenery because of the difficulties around us. All turnouts and stopping areas are closed. Avoid the road, I wish I had. Teton/Yellowstone is great. Also Colter has several sites that access satellite, get your compass out. DW now happy. Happy travels.

42 degrees? Hopefully we will be there this time next year. I am so looking forward to it! Do they let you have a campfire?

Enjoy!

we are at colter bay rv park, full hookups, no campfires. many other places in area with less or no hookups do allow campfires. e.g. colter bay campground, 1/2 miles away, has no hookups and allows campfires.
