Hello, we're planning a 2 week trip spending 7 days in the Redwood Forest than coming down the coast to San Fransico then back east to Lake Tahoe in July. We'd like to spend a day or 2 visiting San Fransico. Know of any good RV campgrounds? We have a 5th wheel. We'd really love to stay on the shore somewhere but not sure if its even a possibility. What do you think? We just bought our first trailer 2 weeks ago so its all new and exciting. Thanks for all the suggestions. We don't mind dry camping either, we're used to tenting.

On 12/2/08 we stayed at the following RV park and toured SF: Sonoma County Fairgrounds RV Park, 1315 Bennet Valley Road, Santa Rosa, CA. 707-293-8410. Check them out on the Internet, also this park was recommended to us by friends. Enjoy your trip.

Check out rvparksreview.com Coyote Hills is a nice rv park but despite what they say about "being the closest rv park to Bay Area attractions" they are still a ways out from SF. They are located south of San Jose in Morgan Hill.

You might run a google on "RV Parks Half Moon Bay". I think my son stays at Pelican Point in that area and it is not to far from San Francisco. I hope you enjoy your new RV as much as we enjoy ours!

I'd focus on a safe place to park the rig OUTSIDE of SF and then taking the BART train into town... staying in a hotel RIGHT IN THE CITY for the two nights you'll be there. Taxi's and trolleys and buses (oh my) for the rest.
