Reservation has been accomplished just now. Good thing you mentioned it as they had only 3 sites left at Banff/Lake Louise Trailer Park.
Thanks again.

Contact your cell phone service provider , to get coverage in Canada; if you haven't already.

Banff? Can I stowaway? That was good advice about going around the Sound. If you end up near roosting time in the south end, there is a campground that isn't terribly pretty, but I think you can fish at it. It's at the Nisqually valley, only one exit. Easy access to the freeway.

There's another that's a little more crude, but prettier location, right next to the river. I've camped with boy scouts at this one before.

I plan to head up to the Banff NP. Everyone is telling me that I really need to see this part of the Rockies. After that is Waterton Lakes before I cross over to the Glacier NP (US).

Good advice. And data services are spendy, we usually turn that off for cell service. Also check your credit cards. Some charge an international exchange rate fee.

I will check with Verizon for the cell phone service. Not sure if they charge extra for the month or the time I'm out of the country.
I have a Capitol One card which I believe does not have currency exchange fees.
Thanks.

Well we took the ferry from Kingston to Edmonds today. What a pleasant experience that was. We were practically first in line for boarding and when it came time to board it was as easy as driving into a pull-through site (though a bit tighter). It was fun watching the GPS receiver showing us "driving" over the water. Disembarking was just as easy. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Sure beats dealing with Tacoma/Seattle traffic.

Amen, brother. The metro-area traffic (even as far north as Everett) is the main reason we moved to Anacortes after I retired. We have adult daughters and grandchildren in Everett, Kirkland and Olympia, so we do quite a bit of driving through that area.
I've even considered taking the ferry from Coupeville to Port Townsend and going down 101 to Olympia to avoid the traffic mess.

Frankdamp. I live on Whidbey Island and have family in Olympia. I very, very seldom go through the Seattle area, choosing instead to go through Port Townsend and down Hood Canal. What a fun drive and a visual feast. If I am heading south to Calif or Arizona I go the same way with my motorhome. Easy peasy.
