Anyone ever take their RV over Sherman Pass in Washington between Republic and Kettle Falls?

We've never been their before and are planning a trip in that area. Since its listed as Washington's highest pass and its neither an interstate or a US highway, I wanted to make sure that the road wasn't too steep for reasonable motorhome travel.

Do you have a copy of the Mountain Directory West? If not, I highly recommend getting one if you're going to do any amount of traveling in the mountainous Western states.

I'm assuming that you are going to be traveling from west to east (i.e., from Republic to Kettle Falls). According to the Mountain Directory West, none of the grades over Sherman Pass are over 6%; however, going UP to Sherman Pass from Republic, you'll have 10 miles of 6% grade. Down the other side, grades range from 3% to 6% and length of grades from 1 to 6 miles. Total descent is about 12 miles with the first 4 miles the steepest. Both sides of the pass have 30-45 mph curves. There is also a warning to "use caution on this hill."

I think the road would be a great motorcycle ride if you look at the map here...

Mike, Lisa,

Did you ever take Sherman Pass or did you "pass" on it. i think that is the pass we were told to take. but, that was when we had our lance.

i am curious if you took it or decided against it.
thanks.
