Pete and Elaine, I am a displaced Oregonian living in Florida but wish we were back in OR.

Neskowin was a favorite beach with me/my parents in the 40s. While as kids we seem to have froze but also loved that environment.

Garbageman, that picture you show with the sea stack; where is it?

Ah, come on back to Oregon, even for a visit! It's Heaven here!

The photo appears, without much doubt, to be our famous Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach, OR (north of your Neskowin area). Another gorgeous area on the north Oregon coast is the Manzanita-Nehalem Bay area. There is a great state park in that area, too.

Hemi,

I grew up in Neskowin. My folks owned Neskowin Beach Golf Course from 1961 to 1978, but like you my mother's family summered there begining in the 40's. Mom has lots of great memories of riding her horses on the beach.

Ejlom, you are partially correct about my photo. It is Haystack Rock, but not at Cannon Beach. It is the real Haystack Rock at Pacific City, just 10 miles north of Neskowin. It is a mile off shore and is the second largest monolith in the World.
Enjoy

Paul

We finally made it to Neskowin Beach, Oregon this summer (we have lived in FL for >25 years)...

I was last at Neskowin as a little kid with friends in ~1950...it was typically foggy on the beach but beautiful...no one was on the beach...I was surprised to find many homes in the area...I suppose they are summer homes.

We went to the store....bought some snacks...took lots of pictures and will post to a server sot that I can upload on this thread. (PS: is there another way to post a picture besides through a web address when the picture is posted on a server?)

It is a wonderful area....later we went to Lincoln City which seems a disaster...miles on miles of shops, eating, casino etc....

Later we ended up at Moes (for chowder) on the Newport waterfront...

Again, OR looked great!!

I grew up in Tangent and worked at the Thompson Mill in Shedd while in college in Corvallis, HEMI
