My wife and I usually take our vacation in September but couldn't this year so we are looking for some where to go in October for about 2 weeks.
I know that October weather is unpredictable here in the NW. We want to stay away from some of the higher mountain passes. We also want to stay here in the NW. We live on the Oregon Coast so we want to head east. I was thinking maybe we could go to Joseph, OR or Tri Cities area but we are open to suggestions.

Garbageman,
I was going to suggest the Oregon coast until I saw where you live... however, that is one of two areas we choose when we want to vacation this late in the year.

The "other place" is the Central California coast, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Cayucos, etc. The weather is nice and there is lots to do, including golf.

Enjoy! Our trailer went into storage on Friday morning and the first snow fell Friday afternoon!

Howdy Paul and Sandy,

If you have never visited the Methow River Valley near Winthrop and Twisp, Washington I'd highly recommend a trip to that area. However, one must watch the weather patterns for this time of the year and also keep in mind deer (modern firearm) season opens in that area October 13TH. Good luck and have fun no matter where you end up.

I understand from a friend that the Yakama Indian Reservation RV Park is excellent, and there is lots to do in the Yakima valley. You could get there by going up the Columbia Gorge, thus avoiding mountain passes. Just an idea.

The Yakima Indian Res at Toppenish is great. We went there in May on our way out this summer and spent 3 days. We hired a Limo ($200.) there for the afternoon and he took us to 8 different wineries. We had a blast. He picked us up at our RV site . The Casino there is really nice with a great buffet everyday.

Thanks for all the great ideas. But, with the way the weather has been behaving we well probably wait until spring unless we get a nice break of good weather later in the month.
