Hi Frank,

Thanks for checking out the site and tidying things up for my arrival.

It's been several years since we've seen Shawnee "green". Must be strange seeing it that way. As much as I look forward to the Fall Foilage festival each year, it's also signaling the end of Summer.

Sure seems like the season goes by quickly.

Sorry you won't make it again, Bob. You didn't make it to Whispering Hills earlier this year. I'm beginning to think it's me....

Joe & Mike - I'm fighting the end of the season. That's why I reserved at SF in Oct. This year, I plan NOT to be running on propane fumes though, just in case....brrrrr!

Sorry all...

We have to cancel this trip too. The kids are in a new school, which does not have the half day off before Columbus weekend, so we now lost our lead time to travel.

We do hope to catch up with you all possibly at Colonel Crawford or (if no snow) Kaluymet.

Candace,

Sorry to hear the school situation doesn't work out and you can't make it.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to see you guys in Crawford and Kalyumet.

Bob:
I mention the "s" word because last year we were at Shawnee with everyone and it was like 70 degrees...we get home and a week later we had that "freak" October snowstorm that ended not only our camping season, but ruined our fall season around here as well. So this year as plans are made for the end of October, I dont leave anything to chance!

Hi All:

We have to cancel also. I tore a rotator cuff on our last trip out and had it repaired last week. Doc says no MHing for three months as DH doesn't take the wheel. Hopefully we can make our Indio trip after Christmas.

Gary,

Sorry to hear you're not going to be able to make it. We do hope the recovery goes well though and hope you get out on the road soon.

Have a speedy recovery.

Gary-

Also, sorry you won't be able to come to Bedford. Dave & I hope you are on the mend & back in the saddle (or Flexsteel) real soon.

P.S. to the rest of the group...The weather here for the end of the week is no rain, & highs in the low 80's. Since that weather usually heads east by about a day, it looks like we'll be in for a really nice weekend. Safe travels to everyone & see ya Fri evening.

P.S.S.

Remind me, what exit do we take off the turnpike? We did it last year for the 1st time, but I've slept since then. I know how to get there once I'm off the turnpike.

You want to exit at 146, Bedford (old exit 11).

Exit using the left most toll booth you can use as you'll need to be in the left lane to turn onto business 220 N. Stay in the left lane on business 220 N as you'll need to make a left at the next light onto I-99/US-220 S. Then exit onto US-30 W.

There's two ways to get to the campground from there:

Continue on Route 30 E to Schellsburg and turn left onto PA-96 S.

Turn Left onto PA-31 W (at Jean Bonnet Tavern). There's a left turn stacker lane. Then, at Manns Choice, turn right onto PA-31 W/PA-96 N at the blinking caution light. PA-96 N splits off to the right about a mile or two. Follow PA-96 N to park entrance. Watch for the sign "Park Entrance 300 Feet".[/list]Personally, I prefer the second option as you avoid a significant grade on US-30.
