Wonderful, we'd love to have you there. It really is a pretty CG set in tall pines & hemlocks. The pool is top notch & if the creek is deep enough, you can canoe it.

If ya can make it, when you call the CG, ask for Mike & tell them you'd like to be adjacent or close to the Darnell,Kasunich,Rowell, Stewart group.

Yes, you need to make the reservations. We're kinda doin' this on the fly, so we haven't set aside any sites ahead of time.

Just follow the instructions I gave FLYTYER to call the CG. Hope you can make it.

Hey Lori!

We have reserved a site at Lock 30 for the July 4th weekend. I believe we will end up in site 26, 27, or 28. So, not too far from the group. See you there!

That's great, Jamie! This is a very pretty campground with lots of shade from the pines (hope ya don't want satellite reception! ) & the pool is great. Be sure you don't bring in cut firewood (unless it's dimensional lumber) - they seem to be very adamant about keeping it out & I wouldn't be surprised if they search bins for "contraband". Not sure what we'll do for campfire that weekend. We've always had nice stays there, so I don't know what prompted the one really low-ball review on rvparkreviews.com.

Whenever we're at Lock30, Dave & I stop at the Homer Laughlin China Co in Newell, WV (less than half an hour away). Don't know if Melissa is into pottery, but since I've got several pieces (many of them originals from the 1930's) I always have to stop & get my "Fiestaware fix" & pick up some items at the factory outlet.

Mountaineer Casino in Chester, WV is also less than half an hour away.

There's a section of Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail there in Lisbon. Whether you bike on it or just take a walk, it's a nice way to spend the day.

BTW, it was nice to meet you & your family this past weekend. I'm glad we didn't scare ya off. We look forward to seeing you again.

Jamie/Melissa,

We're glad you guys were able to get a site. Lock 30 is a neat campground with a good bit of things to do in the area. Lori mentioned the bike trail which is a place we try to go whenever we're in the area.

It was nice meeting you guys this past weekend.

Joe

Hey Pond Piggies,

Who is attending at Lock 30 this weekend?

I am swamped here and won't even get down to see the campground.

What is the next campout? Labor Day?

George

Not me George.... we haven't camped on the 4th in 20+ years. Too busy at work.... Working for Giant Eagle's warehouse, someone has to stay behind to make sure all the other campers have their: steaks, watermelons, beverages, Cheeto's.....

Talking about watermelons, we have shipped in about 35 semi's of melons in the last week. ($3.99 each). figure about 60 bins of 45 melons each in every truck, that is 95,000 melons.......

Were leaving next Sunday for 14 nights in SW PA. (Laurel Hill & Ohiopyle)

Fourth of July week/weekend just isn't one of our favorites for camping. There's just toooo many people out that week. Instead, we traditionally spend the fourth with our next door neighbors but she has bronchitis and her son has strep throat so Chris and I are having the Beer Can Chicken by ourselves (she was originally going to make two of them). In fact, she just put it on the grill. I'm sure Purrscilla Catt will be in line for some chicken once it's done cooking.

A happy and safe Fourth of July to you all!

Hi Diane:

To benefit everyone in the community, I started a new thread entitled Beer Can Chicken. It's in the RV Gourmet sub-forum of the Hobbies, Passions & Pastimes forum under the RV LIFE STYLES FORUMS.

Here's the link:

In honor of you, Frank, we did have Cheetos (& some rain) at Lock 30 this past weekend. Although, the rain stayed away from our campfire nights.

I'm not sure what the next campout is. We don't have anything planned, yet, for the rest of the season. With Dave starting a new assignment last week, we don't know what the workload will be to gauge time off.
