I know that Mike D.(Islap) will start the ball rolling after the new year for possible Pond Piggy weekends. I'm starting to throw around itineraries for next summer. Ya, I know its early. For my week long trips I'm looking at Laurel Hill SP. in SW PA. mid June. Mid July (10) days in the Cooks Forest area NW PA. Late July / early Aug. 2-1/2 weeks Vermont / New Hampshire ??? Candance and Walt said something about the group doing a New England loop in 07'. Any timeline on that??? In Vermont we have stayed a few times at a place called Kamperville on Lake Dunmore in the west central part of the state. That is one place were aiming for in our Vermont trip for a few nights that is very popular. It's kind of like Cutty's, just more activities and 3 swimming pools. Called today and was told about 1/2 the sites are reserved for next summer already.

I've been to Frankenmuth for two of Frankenmuth's Bavarian Festivals, both 1985 and 1994. Zehnder's chicken is to die for. Here is a picture of the banquet room stage at Zehnder's Bavarian Inn.

Jerry Murad's Harmonicats c. 1994

Walking distance from the center of town, is the Frankenmuth Jellystone Park. (*don't hold me to the "walking distance" since its been 12 years since I was there last*). Another attraction in Frankenmuth is Bronner's Christmas Wonderland.

Tom,

Thanks for that info on Sharps Campground. Love those low, low rates. What is the story on rallies and groups only? When I hear Shelocta, I think of Wheel-In Campground.

Each summer I drive through Shelocta going to a family reunion in the Burnside - Cherry Tree area.

Sharps does not rent to overnighters, just rallies. That is why many have heard of Wheelin and Sharps is not well known. They do not advertise. Sharps is 4 miles from Wheelin towards Indiana. The campground is more or less a hobby for the owner. He put in a few permanent sites off to the side and this is where I park for the summer. The place is immaculate.

Coming from Indiana 4 miles before Wheelin you'll see golf carts for sale on the right. Turn right there and Sharps is a 1/4 mile up that road. Wheelin is actually in Elderton.

Tom,

I called Harold Sharp and spoke with him. As it would turn out, he and I are distantly related. Although your pictures are wonderful and beautiful, I would like to take a ride out and see his place in person--maybe after Christmas.

George

Jim:
I have to admire your enthusiam for planning so well inadvance, and as you should to get a good campsite...but we are unable to plan that far ahead. I will tell you all that we are thinking of the Adirondacks and Ft. Ticonderoga for 2007, possibly swinging into VT.

Although Walt is on the 2nd shift now, it may change again by next year....so we are waiting until after the 1st to make decisions. The only thing I know for certain is Columbus Day weekend!

George;

Harold Sharp called me Saturday and told me that someone called from the internet.

If I can help, in anyway, with a rally at Sharps let me know. Jimmy Stewart was born in Indiana and there is a Jimmy Stewart museum there. There is an Amish area around Smicksburg and an Amish restaurant in Dayton. There is a winery near Smicksburg with tastings. There are small shops/stores in Smicksburg.

I'm sorry I missed this post. Yea we need to start putting some things together here pretty soon. I sorta thinking about the W. Va. area(Canaan Valley) where Dave and Lori have gone before, for Memorial Day weekend. We were talking about the New England trip like mid June, then the rally mid July. Want to hit some more Ohio state parks this year I think. Maybe try that new place up at Erie, Pa. that is part of a marina.

I'm with Candace. So far the only one we've planned is Bedford. I'm also with Mike on doing more OH state parks - especially towards NW & SW OH where we haven't been yet. There's a new campground at Senecaville (south of Cambridge off I-77) that I'd like to check out www.mwcdlakes.com/seneca.htm. Actually there's several in that watershed district listing full hook ups that we might need to visit. Another state that looks promising to me is MI. Lake Leelanau looks like an awesome campground. I just have to work a looping route to/back from there with another cg or two to make it a decent week-10day trip. Sprinkle in a few of my favorites (Salt Fork, West Branch, Delaware...etc) & the calendar will fill up before I know it.
