I hate thinking about Fall 2006 camping yet, but this past year when we reserved our sites at Shawnee State Park for the Fall Foilage festival, there were only a couple electric sites left.

Traditionally, we stay at Shawnee State Park which is a rustic semi-wooded 4000 acre park located about 10 miles from Bedford PA.

Although it's too early to find official information about the Fall Foilage Festival, it is normally a 2 weekend event in downtown Bedford which attracts hundreds of crafters from all areas. We always camp for the 3 day Columbus Day weekend to enjoy Fall camping and the festival.

This year, we'll arriving on Friday October 6 and staying through Monday the 9th. We just reserved one of the newly upgraded sites (site 69) at the campground (Campground Map)

Maybe by posting and reserving early, we'll have more iRV2 members able to join us.

Joe:

The festival's website has the 2006 dates so I have to presume it's been updated. You can take a look at it here:

2006 Bedford Fall Foliage Festival (42nd annual)

Dave & I would like to get to that next year. Maybe combine it with Canaan Valley for that week of vacation we do at peak leaf time. Joe, on that map, are the 30a sites across from you nice ones?

I reserved site 77 today. They added a couple of pet sites to that area this year for the first time, so I took one.

Lori,

We were on the 30 amp sites across from the 50 amp sites this past year. The sites are not as nice as the new 50 amp sites. They are actually only rated for smaller trailers although we were able to get on them last year. They were a little tough to get the motorhome level on.

If you think you can make the weekend, I'd suggest reserving 71 or 73 as first choices. they are brand new super nice sites.

We are on 66.

I guess the dogs will be hanging with you Mike. I'll send the kids over periodically to clean up.

What a friend!

Lori, The sites fill up fast at that time of year. I would suggest reserving it now, even if you are not sure if you will go. The cancel fee is only 10.00 up to 8 days before, I think.

Bill, No Problem

We have been making the Fall festival for some time now. We always stay at Friendship Village. This is the Wifes favorite CG. 2005 spent most of the weekend camping in the rain. But had good company and great time.

I finally got around to this and reserved #82. I only need 30A so I couldn't bring myself to taking one of the 50A sites. The site is a pull-thru so, if it's raining when I arrive, I won't have to back into a site on a grade with a 2WD truck (like I did last year).

As of this date (01/28/2006 1:45 PM) these are the remaing electric sites in the "A" loop using a 15' trailer and an arrival date of 10/06/2006 for three (3) nights:

1-5,41,42,44-53,58,61,63,67,70-72,74,76,78,79,89,92,93

Using the same search, but with a 40' trailer the choices are reduced to 4,44-46 and 71. Soooo, if you have a big unit... You'd better get crackin' if you want to get a site near the rest of us.

I didn't have any guilt taking a 50A site since they were available .

We're in 73. But, due to the way scheduling is working out & wanting to combine this trip with Canaan Valley in WV, we won't be coming in until Sat 10/7. If no one takes our site on 10/6, feel free to use it to park your vehicles or whatever 'til we can make it in on Sat. - which'll probably be late afternoon.

Candace, You do realize that site 54 is not behind me but across the street, right?

Mike

I realized this when I looked it up again Sunday (when we got home)...no biggie, we have 2 golf cart batteries that Walt is going to put in (after he hacks into the battery compartment to make room)

I tried to make ressies online, but it did not go thru...thinking there was a problem with me having 2 ressies for the same dates, I phoned the reservation center and got things cleared up.
