Trying to put together a trip to Cedar Point Amusement park this year. Will stay at their campground. Looking for some other things to see and do in say 100 mile radius or so. We have two boys 17&15. TIA

You can take a day and a ferry and go to Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island. There is Perrys Monument. On a clear day you can see the Canadian shore from the top.
You can also go to Kelly's Island. There is not quite as much to do there as on South Bass.
If you like light housed, there is Marblehead light house just on the other side of the bay from Cedar Point. Marblehead and Lakeside are quaint towns to spend some time in also. If you want you can go to East Harbor State Park. There is a campground there if yo want to spend a night or two.
There are a ton of tourist places between Port Clinton and Sandusky and they are all willing to take your money LOL.
We used to live in the area. send me a PM if you have any other questions.

Hello, Last June we spent 9 nights at East Harbor State Park about 20 minutes from Ceder Point. We spent 2 days at the point.... East Harbor is about 10 minutes from the ferry going over to Put-in-Bay. We just parked our car at the ferry dock and took our bikes over(much cheaper). The island is about 1/2 miles wide by about 1-1/2 miles long. Most people use or rent bikes or golf carts once they get off the ferry. There is a state park campground on the island, BUT I will say it is for collage kids and the sites are very small. The downtown area has a bunch of shops, restaurants and many bars....East Harbor State Park is very large 500+ sites. We stayed in section "C" which are mostly back in with electric service. The sites in "C" for the most part are very short. Now section "B" are all pull-thru's and very large. There are some full service sites, which are also very large, but they get reserved quick. EH butts up to the harbor which offers good fishing. It's usually a 2 minute walk to the waters edge from most sites. Here is a link to some pictures of the state park, Marblehead Lighthouse and Put-n-Bay.. East Harbor
Also within your 100 mile radius is the Mohican State Park area. It's about an hour south of the Ceder Point / EH area near Mansfield Ohio. Mohican is the canoeing capital of the mid-west. There are about 6-7 campgrounds in the area, but the state park is the place to be. Mohican is only one of two state parks in Ohio that has a pool. About 40 of the sites back up to the river. There is 28 miles of mountain biking trails, good hiking, nature center, ice cream shop. The small river that passes thru the state park offers innertubing..... Be forwarned Mohican is Ohio's most popular state park. Summer weekends fill up fast. Here in Ohio you can reserve 6 months ahead to the day you plan to arrive.... Here are a few IRV2 pictures I have from Mohican Mohican 089' Halloween Campout or Mohican 05'.
Your kids will enjoy Ceder Point. If they like roller coasters it's the place. My son couldn't get enough of the Top Fuel Dragster. The 2nd day I finally got the courage to go for it....All I can say is my brain stopped for 3 seconds 0-120 in 2.5 seconds....Look for discounts on Pepsi cans. The past 5-10 years all Pepsi cans have had $10 or $12 off offers on the cans....

Mike,
A 100 mile radius will get you a TON of things to do, more than can be mentioned here, but I'll give it a shot for some that I know in OH that'd be in that range. Your parameters also would include Canada (you can cross over via Lake Erie or by land at Detroit, MI) so you might want to check in with our neighbors to the north in their forum for ideas if you want to include Canada.
Here's info on the Lake Erie Shores & Islands. The best way to get around the islands is by bike (you can take your own or rent there) or rent a golf cart.
In addition to the islands (must see's especially Perry's Victory Memorial on Put-in-Bay; take the Jet Express ferry over) that moldmkr mentioned, there are these attractions I would recommend that are in the immediate vicinity of Sandusky:

African Safari Wildlife Park

Seneca Caverns
You're close to 2 great zoos:

Toledo Zoo

Cleveland Metropark Zoo
Other places I've been (within your radius) that I'd recommend:

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland

Take in a Cleveland Indians game

Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton (just a bit outside your radius but worth it if you're a big pro football fan)

Fort Meigs Museum near Toledo

Go to a Mudhens game if you're more into minor league baseball

Tony Packos. Gotta go there if you're in Toldeo
Take a drive along the lake on RT 6 east out of Sandusky, all the way to Cleveland if you want. That's a beautiful shoreline drive. Stop by & shop any roadside farm market stands set up - yummy fresh produce .
Oh, and if you're going to be at Cedar Point, there's also Soak City - the other part. You can easily spend a whole day here.
Well, that's a start. I'm sure more members that know the area will chime in. Depending on how long you'll be staying, we can supply you with more options.

Another ting I thought of was Henry Ford Museum and Green FIeld Village. They are side by side.
Henry Ford Museum web site www.hfmgv.org
This is the web site for both places. They are in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. I used google maps and it is 108 miles from Cedar Point to Dearborn

IMHO- I think you really need to spend a minimum of two days to see everything without rushing at Greenfield Village/Henry Ford Museum. It's more than a "day trip". When I was there back in 1987, they sold two day passes (which I purchased) and I'm sure there's even more to see there today.

We have been annual members at the Henry Ford/Greenfield Village for over 26 years; you cant see everything in detail in just one day at either place. There is nothing else that compares to it for our country's past history.

Hey, Rod & DeeDee,
I see you're from up by the Canton area. Don't know how I missed seeing that in your previous posts. Anyway, I wanted to be sure to invite you to our Regional Rally at Cutty's Sunset Resort for Memorial Day. We've got some sites on hold, so you won't have to worry about trying to find a place to go for the busy holiday weekend. Check the North Central forum for details. Also, please consider coming to the National Rally at Evergreen Park RV Resort.
Both of these are SO close to you, we'd love to have you come.

100 miles.. I'm not sure if that would get you to Detroit, (Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village is actually in Dearborn, Take I-75 to Southfield road, NORTH to Southfield freeway and follow the signs)
Kings Island (Another amusement park) is east of Cincinnatti. Near the Thousand Trails park in Wilmington (I think) Ohio.
Bowling Green Ohio has a rail road museum, a Catholic Shrine is nearby as well and some interesting caves.
And that's just the places I've been. I"m from Michigan so I tend to push Michigan.
