Hey North Central Gang!!

It's December 1st and we're heading into a long cold Winter. What better way to pass the time than start thinking about a Spring time campout!.

Any thoughts about Memorial Day this year? Historically it's the first long weekend we all can get out so let's try to plan a group trip to celebrate Spring. It'd be nice to get a big group together this year so we might need to get sites booked early.

Any ideas of places to go?

In about two weeks from Memorial Day weekend, many of us will be spending a week in Ohio for the iRV2 National Rally. Therefore, maybe we can find somewhere in PA or WV to go. I've never been to the Stonewall Jackson Resort... or how about a state park like Laurel Hill? For those coming from the west, it's about an hour (maybe more)closer than Shawnee. You exit the PA Turnpike at Donegal (exit 91) instead of Bedford (exit 146)

I think George and Jim are considering Cutty's Sunset.

Depending on whether or not it could be a first outting of the season for some, having a CG w/fhu sites might be a consideration. Take advantage of the w/s hookups to flush the pink stuff out, ya know.

I also agree w/Frank to keep it out of that NE OH area for the reason he stated (please don't be offended George/Jim - we DO wanna see ya, just probably not at Cuttys so close to the Rally). Now, you all know Stonewall has been (for a LONG time) my favorite CG, so I wouldn't object to going there (there's even a winery nearby ).

I'll add these 2 to the list of possibilities (we haven't been to either one):

Brookdale Family CG in Meadville, PA

Kozy Rest Kampground in Harrisville, PA

Stonewall Jackson sounds good. We also like Laurel Hill although for the three day weekend the full hookups would be nicer.

Jim, Are you doing a Laurel Hill week this year?

Another option that we talked about would be going out to Ives Run again. It might be too far though for just the 3 day weekend so it might be a better choice for some other long weekend.

It's be nice if we can pick a spot that we can all go to in order to get the whole gang together to kick off the Summer.

Bummer

I was thinking Stonewall could be a choice so I made a quick call to see if sites were available for the Holiday weekend.....All sites are booked for the holiday weekend

Yeah, Stonewall isn't much of a well kept secret anymore. Now that you mention it being booked up, I think I saw on another website that they fill 1yr in advance anymore.

So far were planning to be at Laurel Hill in July maybe 12-19th. What about Pioneer Park about 4 miles north of Laurel Hill. I have driven thru there and it seemed like a nice clean park. But looking at the 08' rates, a full service site with a family of 4 on a holiday weekend would be $48 a night. ouch...

The prices are going up at some of the parks, that's for sure. Pioneer Park does look like a nice place though and have been wanting to spend some time in that area. You know, at that time of year, for those that are adventureous, white water rafting would be available!!
Just for curiousity, I left a message with them asking about site availability.

I may be able to get a group into Sharps Rally Campground for Memorial Day. Sharps is east of Indiana, PA. $19 a night w/hookups and a pavilion with full kitchen included.

I errored. It's located WEST of Indiana, PA about 6 miles in Shelocta. Not far from Wheel In CG.

My buddy owns the place and only rents to rallys such as FMCA, Good Sam, etc. He put in 21 yearly sites and I have one of those. Located an 1/4 mile off route 422 between Kittanning and Indiana.

Tom, That's okay because to error is human and the only perfection is in God, the Creator of all living things.

Are you thinking of a full blown rally for Sharps? or a weekend campout?
