Seems like every year in order to reserve a site for holiday weekends you have to make a reservation earlier and earlier each year....It's been 2 years since we have been to Mosquito SP. in eastern Ohio. Last time we were there we truly loved site #141. It was very private and set back from the road. I had talked to George (Miklas) about going here this past summer. I figured since it was in a non-pet loop it would not be a good outing for the Pond Piggy's because everyone I think has a pet. So George and me made reservations today for sites #141 and #142. If anyone wants to join us feel free. Mosquito is not a very busy park. It will fill up a few weeks before Memorial Day weekend, but on normal weekends there are always sites. Here is a link to Mosquito ( http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/mos...1/Default.aspx )

Can we have Pond Piggy campouts at two different campgrounds on the same weekend? This might be a first!

It did happen. We had 2 different campgrounds on the same weekend during the rally last summer. We had a "Branson East" rally w/you, Jim & Frank at Cooks Forest while the rest of the Pond Piggies were at the national rally. I guess with several of us headed to Tionesta for Memorial Day wknd 08, it'll be a bi-campground weekend for the Piggies again. Those that haven't made their reservations yet now have 2 options.

I've never been to either CG but opted for Tionesta (113 reserved) being that I had reservations for Tionesta last year but my "toe problem" kept me from going.

I noticed that site 115 (the site that was supposed to be George's) was already reserved.

Frank,

Take one of those oval iRV2.com stickers with you and tell the guy in 115 that he is a member at least for the weekend.

Mosquito SP. should not fill up that fast. I would bet there would be a few sites available a month from the holiday weekend. For the most part all the sites are level and with nice sized paved pads. The non-pet loop has good "buffer" areas between most sites without being on top of each site. The only thing you might have to watch out for is it we have a period of rain before, there are a few sites that stay wet and muddy.....

The funny thing about Mosquito is it rarely fills up. I checked the Ohio website this morning (4-21-08) and it shows about 75% of the sites in our section still available (Non-pet section). And only about 20% available in the pet section. Even with them adding electric to most of the sites a few years back, it's usually only 50% filled on non-holiday weekends.

Memorial Weekend update: I checked the Mosquito SP. website for any sites available. All the electric sites are full. There are about 10 non-electric ones left. The 10 day forecast is calling for sun Fri. & Sat. Lets hope we have a nice dry weekend.....

George what time are you arriving Friday? I hope to pick up Robert at School with the trailer at 3 and be at Mosquito by about 4:15. We have deep wooded sites, so lets hope Wed thru Fri stay dry. If I remember right a lot of people fill up their water tanks at the drinking fountain faucets located about every 200 feet or at the campground road intersections.

Van/TT will be connected and loaded on Thursday night. On Friday, I'll leave Butler at 3:30, home at 4:20, leave home by 5:00, arrive at Mosquito at 6:30ish.

Will you have some good cooking coals by then?

George

I can't wait. I changed the oil in the van yesterday. Today, I went to Lezzer Lumber and got 7 pallets (firewood), then I went home and started on the TT de-winterizing, starting the refrigerator, filling tires, lubricating jack screws. Meanwhile, Jodi and the kids have been loading clothes and stocking the pantry.

Tomorrow, I load the van, hitch it up, and give everything a bath !
