This Ohio weather is down right scary! Just got parked in Mogadore about 6 pm, tuned the tv and every channel says tornado warnings all around. Is this normal? Please be right about the forecast for tomorrow, we would like to visit the NP before we head back east.

It's not an every "storm" occurrence, but it happens in Ohio more often than here in Pennsylvania because Ohio is flatter.

The storm Jim mentioned has passed through western PA and moved on east. It's supposed to be clear with cooler weather now. TWC's map currently shows no precipitation occurring in Ohio. The closest rain I noticed west of Ohio was a very small shower in eastern Iowa. Here in western PA, the earliest rain being forecast is on Sunday.

If you want to experience something scary, you should have been at the 2009 iRV2 National Rally when a number of us attended a dinner/show at the Amish Door. A tornado warning occurred in which they had to stop the show and evacuate everyone to the center of the building (which was essentially the kitchen and storage areas) until the "all clear" was given. Then we were reseated and the play resumed where it left off.

Thunderstorms this time of year are, but the high number of wide-spread tornadoes that occured today aren't, that's normally a spring-thing here.. The front that came through was especially strong & caused all the winds, rain, tornadoes...etc. There was a lot of damage just 5 miles from my home, yet all I got was less than 1/4" of rain in the rain gauge out of it. All is clear now for the next couple days. Enjoy the nice weather before the rains come Sunday.

Back from Mt-Gilead SP. It was actually a nice park....Very quiet.... All sites had 50 amp power. A good deal of the sites were on the short size, but double width. Most had good width to turn your RV into your site. The sites at the end of the one street were very large for 40'+ mh's....All sites had a fine gravel base. There were many sports related things to do. One warning the new disc golf course you better wear full hiking gear. It was nuts.....There are 9 holes installed this year, with more planned in the future. There were 3 newer playgrounds, 3 picnic pavilions, basketball, volleyball, many hiking trails.

I think the only thing that keeps RVer's away is there are only "pit" restrooms and no shower building. But for weekends, it will be one on our list for future trips. It was an easy 5 miles west of I-71 or about 45 minutes NE of Columbus. Of the 60 sites, 15 were occupied.

Here are a few more pix Mt. Gilead

Thanks for the report, Jim. I didn't realize they had sites long enough to fit 40ft rv's. Dave & I just might have to check that park out. The pit toilet/no showers might be a deterrent to others but makes for a sparsely populated/quiet CG.

Glad to see the lake cleared up.

If going there with a empty water tank you can fill up behind the check-in station, but you would have to do a u-w-eee at the end of the campground, or there is a nice fresh water outlet at the end of the cul-de-sac to the right. There are only two streets. One goes straight with non-pet sites and large oak trees. And the street to the right is mostly pine with larger sites near the cul-de-sac. The cul-da-sac is very large, so even 40'+ should have no problem turning around.
