It snowed this weekend we were at Natural Springs! If there ever was a sign that it's time to hang it up for the season, wet snow plopping down is it. I guess it's only fitting, though. This year started out with snow (Salt Fork) so it should end on snow. Until next season, I'll have to make myself content with reading posts from the southern regions.

Since this is a RVing forum, I think that word SNOW should be **** as one of the banned cuss words.

Saying that we had about a half inch of the **** on the ground at the house this morning. A fellow I work with from Connellsville said he had 3-4 inches of **** on the ground and the back roads were pretty much covered.

Yuck!!! It's going to be a long cold winter if the **** is starting already.

***** Are you guys going to let a little ***** scare you into hibernation ???? Two weekends ago (Oct.13-17) we had a perfect weather weekend at West Branch SP. It was just one of those long weekends that you hope fall would bring. I hope to get out one more time before the real **** starts to fall. This weekend is starting to look better upper 50's /lower 60's and sunny. hummmm???? Went to a RV winterization seminar this past weekend at All-Season's RV, so the end is near.
Usually each fall either Columbus Day weekend or the one after we do a 4 day weekend campout. The last 4-5 years we have stayed in Ohio, but before that we camped a few times at Red House SP. in Western NY. Diane said she would like to try that one next year. But for Columbus Day weekend reservations need to be made at least 6 months before hand because the nearby town of Ellicottville has their fall festival on that weekend. She will find out shortly which long weekend Robert will have off of school and then we'll make a reservation.

Red House area is a great place to view the fall colors. There is a nice lake there along with many paved bike trails. Near by there is a place / farm they call "Pumpkinville" where everything is pumpkin related (small haunted house, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin patch hayrides, cider mill ect.....
The State Park campground itself has about 100-125 sites divided into 3 small loops, 2 of which are on a small wooded hillside. About 75% have electric. And maybe 25% you could only get a popup or tent into. But still the area is perfect for viewing fall colors. I have a list of sites I know our trailer will fit into.

Jim,
Make sure we discuss that option the beginning of year.

This coming weekend will be our last one out for the year. Will then take a week or two to get it ready for winter and then park it away. Like we have said before, the camping season around here is just too short for my liking. We have had good weather this year, though, for a change.

About 90% ("O" let me change that 100%)sure we'll go to West Branch SP this coming weekend. Looks like the weather is going to be good (55-63 degrees). If we do I'll make this our last outing too. Then I'll call Monday to the dealer for an apointment to get a few warranty items done.
Its a go... I checked the website and they plan to have about 70% of the sites open. My parents plan to go also and I heard of maybe another family possibly going too. I plan to leave mid-morning with my parent to get a few sites. Diane will come later in the afternoon with her car. She has a meeting Saturday morning at church, so she will have to drive in for a few hours for that.

Mike talk about the past weekend being your last weekend. Ours too By chance did you go to the Cooks Forest area (Kalyumet) The Miklas's visited us Friday night at West Branch and George said he pasted Bill R. traveling East on I-80 into PA. Thats one thing you can't miss a coach like Bill's rolling down the highway.
I have the trailer in my driveway this week getin-her ready for winter. I have a whole lot more stuff to pull out than the pop-up we had.
I would have to agree with you that the weather over-all this year has been good for camping. The only bad trip I can recall was the one you and I planned on going to Mosquito a few weeks back. Instead we went to West Branch that weekend (O well can't win them all) Is Cutty's going to be a annual Memorial Day Weekend trip? I was wondering if maybe West Branch may be a different camp-out location for 06'. I reason I ask is because if it would be reservations can be made 6 months ahead and it will fill-up fast. just a thought.

Jim....

Yea, we were at Kalyumet this past weekend. The weather was pretty decent, although alittle chilly at night. But that is what big campfires are for!! The rig is winterized and partially emptied for storage. Bill mentioned George hollowed at him on the cb.

Man that was a quick reply. Do you really have a job? Were the fall colors at Cooks Forest area at "peak". I would say West Branch's were 100% peak. We had ice on the picnic table sat. morning. By sat. morning there were only maybe 5-6 empty sites.
Talking about next years camping. The one thing bad about State Parks is if it's a popular one the good sites get taken fast. And for many people its hard to plan so far ahead. I guess I'm lucky I keep just about the same off days and have enough company time to get a good vacation pick (20 years service) About the only weeks I can't get are maybe 4th of July week and X-Mas week.

Yea, the colors were at their peak, I would say.
We try to figure out the beginning of the year when we would like to get to the state parks and start reserving then.
