Hi Folks:
It's never too soon to start thinking about this annual event held at Pittsburgh's David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Here's the link:
2005 Pittsburgh RV Show
... And who the "hex" was Davie Lawrence anyway? He was mayor of Pittsburgh (1946-1959) and governor of Pennsylvania (1959-1963)
There, now you've had your Pennsylvania history lesson for the day

We're planning to attend the RV show on Sunday, January 9th. Chris and I do volunteer work with the Homeless Cat Management Team (a trap, neuter, release clinic for feral cats) that morning, so it's just a short ride across the river from where the clinic is. We're usually finished between noon and one o'clock so there's plenty of time to attend the RV show.
If anyone else is interested in attending that day, make a posting. Maybe we can all meet somewhere at the show.

Hi Frank, I have a question for you. If you are going to the show and ENCORE has a booth and they are giving away one week for $99.00 (or whatever) pieces of paper to the crowd, could you please pick me one up? We are planning to go south in March or April and need to stay at the ENCORE Sarasota South for a week. It is really close to my uncle. It used to be Passport America, but I don't see it listed on their website. Thanks in advance. If you get it, let me know and I'll give you my snail mail address. See you at the rally for Mid Atlantic in May. COME ON SPRING

Hi Frank,
We've been juggling the schedule trying to see if we could make the show this weekend, but it's not looking good right now. Alyssa's having her B'day party Sunday, so it looks like the RV show on Sunday is out. We may try to squeeze in a quick trip another day on the spur of the moment though.

Hi, Folks:
Just got back from the show. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately depending on how you look at it), I didn't see anything that would make me want to trade-in what I already have.
I noticed that a lot more RV manufacturers are using toilets made of porcelain (just like at home) rather than plastic.
I think the floor layout of the show is awful and I miss the old convention center where all the RVs were in rows making an easy "trail" to follow. In the new convention center, it seems like more and more of the larger presenters "corral" their units over several aisles so you have partial aisles and "dead ends". There are also aisles that have nothing but the backs of the units on both sides so there's nothing to enter.
Get out your wallet! Besides the $7.00 admission, you'll spend another $10.00 if you park at the convention center. Being that it was a Sunday, I found on-street free parking about 7 blocks from the show (note: the parking meters aren't enforced on Sundays).
As always, food and drinks at the show are pricy and should be avoided. $3.50 for a soft drink? Go to the water fountain and get a drink of water. Go someplace before or after the show (we went to Subway) where everything's a lot less expensive.
Almost the entire first floor of the show had Pre-owned RVs. I didn't look at them as we were pressed for time so I don't know if there might have been any "bargains".
Well, That's about it.

Thanks for the report Frank. I'll probably skip the show this year anyway. I'm looking for pre-owned, and need to wait for a private deal instead of paying profit to a dealer.
