Thinking of Scenic Hills RV in Millersburg as an alternate to Whispering Hills for the first part of JUNE....corrected

As I need to be in Nappanee,IN for a Newmar service appointment, Mapquest routes me across 30 toward Indiana...

I'm curious how my rig and trailer would do on Route 30...

Also at 74 feet long I am wondering about the pull through lengths, but I can certainly call Scenic Hills.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Bob,

Check out this website http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/misc/traffic_rules.htm

Maximum length on Ohio is 65 feet, and this website does not specify commercial / non-commercial. Of course, this is different than the Interstate Highway System where there is no maximum length limit.

George, thank you for the Ohio DOT site, but it's the campground pull through sites I had a question with,as well as the condition of Route 30 from Millersburg toward Indiana...

I am aware of the issues regarding the legality of my length in most States.

I am "almost" sure that rt30 is four lane almost the whole way now to the border. If not, I dont think it is a problem wherever it is only 2 lane. It was and maybe still is used alot by trucks.
Bob, what route are you looking at getting to Millersburg? What is bringing you thru that area and when will you be there?

Bob -

Mike's correct. RT30 is now mostly 4 lane all the way & the places it isn't you shouldn't have trouble. Tandem semis use RT30 all the time cutting across the top 1/3 of the state.

As for Senic Hills, it's a very open campground - basically no more than upper & lower parking lots with hook ups & some grass so you won't have issues maneuvering in it. You are really long so it wouldn't hurt to double check w/them to be sure you can get a site long enough to accomodate you without unhooking. I believe it's off Rt39 so I know there will be 2 lane roads for you to take to get to the campground, but nothing not doable.

If you get a chance, eat at Chalet in the Valley. There's plenty of good eats in the Berlin/Millersburg area, but I personally like that one the best.

THANKS Lori...

That entire area is one of my faves, we still have the Berlin Flyer "four wheel steer" wagon we bought Adrienne years ago...

Mike, I first had eyes on the area as it looked like some of you would be in Whispering Hills the 1st,2nd and 3rd of June and while I knew W/H was a no go for me, we had stayed over in Millersburg a long time ago at Scenic Hills.
I am aware of what Scenic Hills is and "is not",so that's ok too...I'd rather have my dish in the air than have trees.

Not sure yet how I'll get there as I'll be in Myrtle Beach until 20 May and then anything's possible until the 4th of June when I'm due in Nappanee for service.

My bad, Bob. I thought you said you going thru here in April on way to Indiana, not June. The reason I asked about your route was that Millserburg is exactly "close" to rt 30 as an overnight place so wasnt sure if you wanted to visit there or just pass thru.

Mike, you caught a bad typo I made....

I've been working on the schedule and I guess I got April confused with June...It is in fact JUNE when I'll be in the area.

As I had seen Lori's post IRT the June discount weekend,I thought it'd be neat to be close to some of you guys and maybe hook up.

S.Hills is actually nearer to Berlin than Millersburg. Good state routes to reconnect back to Rt 30.

Thanks Rod, that's what I was thinking from having been there some years ago.

I was wondering what the condition of the roads were as I need to head to Nappanee after leaving Berlin.

ST RT 83 north off of 39 (west of Berlin)will take you up to 30; or 39 east to Mansfield and pick up 30 (more scenic route). Both routes are 2 lane.
