Has anyone ever heard of or camped at Sara's Campground?
Judging by the map on their website, it looks like it's right where the peninsula begins for Presque Isle SP.
The pictures of the campground on their website look really nice.
Is this someplace new?
However, they only accept cash & Traveler's checks and take no reservations which is a little strange to me.

I've never heard of Sara's, but I agree with you that the reservation policy would scare me. I'd hate to make the drive there and find no available sites.
Someone was telling me about a campground called the "YMCA campground" near the area that Sara's is. I wonder if they are the same?

But a "plus" for you, Joe, is that according to their price structure: "Prices include 2 adults and 4 children".
For a change, You'd only have to pay the only the camping rate.

I'll be in Erie on Friday near the campground and if I get a chance will do a drive through and report back. However I have not read anything good about the place as of yet. See this link I found.

It musta changed it's name. It's listed as Sara's Coynes Beachcomber on rvparkreview's website. It didn't get favorable reviews on that site & none since 2007.
I zoomed all the way in on the satellite view on Google maps. Doesn't look like what the website shows, that's for sure!

From the pix's on their website it looks nice, but I have been fooled before. Lets see if Bill M. gets a chance for a "look / see".

Did a drive through today. Results; the pictures on their website of the shoreline are pretty accurate (cause they show the water and not the campground). The rest, I'm not sure where they were. However, the bottom line is this place is a dump. Lots of poorly kept seasonal sites, everything is stacked and packed in, campsites for non-seasonals are one on top of the other with no privacy and there is no eye appeal whatsoever. Not a place I would spend my time or money when there are many acceptable campgrounds within a very small radius.

Thanks for the review, Bill. It's amazing how they take some pictures and try to "reel" people on with 'em.
I personally like Lampe Campground in Erie.

Gosh, Bill. Does that mean you couldn't find any of the settings that are used in the three pictures near the bottom of their home page?
WOW! What deceptive advertising. I wonder what the management tells people when they ask where these areas are that are shown in the pictures?
I haven't been to Presque Isle in many, many years. But, the last time I was there, I remember a campground just as you came down the hill from the mainland that looked like a huge "tent city". It was just a big grassy area and you put your tent where ever you could find enough space for it. I wouldn't have camped there if my life depended on it.

It would be my impression the pictures shown are in the seasonal area that they wouldn't let me in. Didn't see them in the parts I was allowed in. I didn't go down to the beach where you are still able to pitch your tent but I didn't think anybody on this thread was using a tent.

Well, I'll take that one off the list.....Since returning from our Alaska trip in Aug. I have been very busy at work.....Was able to get out twice in Sept. and have a 3 night Halloween weekend at Mohican in a few weeks. Spent last weekend at Findley SP. with my parents. We had to make a reservation to get one of the last electric sites. With the 90 electric sites they added this year Findley is becoming very popular in the off-season. They cleared out a few trees here and there on the two streets with electric, which opens up many sites for larger units......I love the pine forest.....
