On Thanksgiving weekend, I am going Steelhead fishing and asphalt camping at the Walnut Creek Marina, Erie, PA.
Fishing the lake and inlet by night with noodle rods and glow-in-the-dark bobbers, and fishing by day wading the creek with fly rods.
Guys weekend out! No children this trip. I have one buddy already joining me. We can easily have one more adult in the camper.

Hope you have a good weekend & net a lot of fish. I've never heard of Steelhead fish. Are they good to eat?
My dad was always fishin' off the piers on Lake Erie. I grew up eating Perch, Bass, Bluegill & Walleye. He even taught me how to fillet a fish. We just had to make sure the garbage can was way out at the end of the alley - the innards sure smelled after being inside a can for a few days when it was summer. PEW! He went to Canada one year with some of his buddies after he retired & got some Salmon. Boy, them's sure good eatin'.
Enjoy!

George,
I'm not sure where Walnut Creek is compared Port Erie, but you may want to check out Port Erie Campground
It's a new campground right on the Erie side of the canal leading from the bay to the lake. The CG has only been open for 2 years and has very nice shower facility bath house. Although there's not anything to do at the CG, it made a nice base from which to explore Presque. It's also much more spacious than Presque state park CG.

George; You using spawn sacks or jigs n maggots?
I have pretty good luck myself around here with a minfoo jig and berkley power bait artificial maggots. Matter of fact, works most of the winter at the Power Plant in Eastlake about 3 miles from us. Water's warm all winter there and brings in some BIG ones!

WOW, you sure are taking me back to my childhood days. I used to fish at Walnut creek and at Presque State park. Caught a lot of perch, bass, a few steelhead, and a couple Northern pike.
Now all my fishing is done in the Gulf around Corpus Christi.
