Chris and I are going to be at Geneva State Park, site #89 arriving Thursday evening, 08/13 and leaving Monday, 08/17. NLOVNIT (Dave & Lori in site #91) will be joining us too. We're planning to visit some of the wineries in the area and just have a relaxing weekend. There are still open sites available. So, if anyone's interested and can get away, you're welcome to join us.

BTW- If you can't or don't do wine, come anyway. This is an unstructured, "do your own thing" event and (even though I've never been to Geneva) I'm sure there are lots of other things to do in the area.

Thanks for the post. We would love to come, but I will be in Sacramento.

All of the lake communities have things to do on the weekends. It is a descent tourist area if my memory serves. During college, I used to run concessions at several festivals--Geneva-On-The-Lake was one such community.

We stayed there for a weekend last spring. And I think we were on either #89 or site #91. Take a 5 minute ride up the lakeshore (NE) to the Geneva SP Lodge. We did the Sunday brunch. Across from the campground there are the state park cabins right on the lakefront. To the right of them is access to the shoreline. There is a path about 25 feet from the last cabin on the right that takes you down to the waters edge with steps. There is also a path back in the woods just before you get to the steps that runs from that area to the beach area.

Thanks for the info on the paths, Jim. When we were there last (2007), we saw the cabins but didn't snoop around them (didn't know if we'd be tresspassing or not) to find the paths to get to the beach. It's nice to know it's there to walk to as we drove out the CG entrance & back up the road to get to the road to the beach parking area.

The lodge is nice & both the pool & dining room has great views of Lake Erie. I was a bit dissappointed when we inquired if we could use the pool since we were staying at the campground & the girl at the desk said no (unless we wanted to pay a fee) because the lodge was not affilliated with the state park. On reading the entrance sign again it does say The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake & no where mentions Geneva State Park. I guess I thought it was part of the parks system. In 07 they were just excavating for an outside pool. Was that finished when you were there last yr?

Also, for something to do one day, we took a drive out Rt 531 all the way till it deadends at Rt-7. That was a really nice drive going right next to the lake all the way & we stopped at a really nice park with a long boardwalk somewhere on that stretch of road.
