LABOR DAY RALLY - Sept 4th - 7th

SEE SPECIAL NOTE BELOW
CHRISTMAS RALLY - Dec 4 - 6 Red Oak Ranch in Hempstead
THE CHRISTMAS RALLY WILL NOW BE HELD DEC 11-13 AT RAYFORD CROSSING IN SPRING
Recently, Red Oak Ranch was visited by a number of Texas Boomers in another rv club. They contacted me w/ distressing news that the Ranch is no longer suitable for rallies. There has been no maintenance done (mowing, weeding, etc), but the biggest issue is "rutting" in the gravel sites that make it difficult to get in and out. There have been reported cases where rigs have had to be pulled out due to sinking in the gravel if/when/if it rains. We simply cannot take that chance, so I made 3 phone calls to other area parks: #1 was full, #2 was $37.50 per night rally rate, #3 did not have kitchen facilities, so arrangements for the Christmas Rally has been moved to Rayford Crossing.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL RAYFORD CROSSING AND PRE-BOOK YOUR SITE! This creates such confusion and increases the potential for error! When the signup is posted, you'll get to select the site you want!

I have confirmed with Top of the Hill RV Resort in Boerne, we have 8 to 10 sites for the "Sweet Heart" Rally, Feb 13 to 16, 2009. We can get more sites if needed. That weekend is also, Boerne Market Days which everyone seem to enjoy last March. Of course, Feb weather can be unstable, but we can always stay indoors and play LCR.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Just for the record, the Sweetheart Rally being advertised by RV.Net on this website is not Kris's rally for the Texas Boomers. (Although Larry is a Texas Boomer)

Best,

I'm sorry to see that the the March, April and May gatherings that were originally planned by Jay are no longer listed on the website. Will someone else be taking over so we can have rallies there? March - Marina Bay or Lakeside RV Park at Kemah, April - Brackenridge Plantation, Edna, Texas and May - Serendipity RV Park in Palaciious, TX. I was looking forward to these RV gatherings.

In a previous post, Madame Boomer stated that someone will be planning and announcing these rallies after Jay and Stella's retirement bash. I think this is the correct way to handle things, concentrating on celebrating their service before getting started on a new path. We all look forward to new and exciting plans for the future.

Thank you Judy for responding to Randee's post. I've been out sick for a couple of days and just didn't catch it.

In answer to Randee's question, when the original 2009 Rally and Area Campout schedule was posted online way back in August, Jay and Stella (SE Area Leaders) were planning to retire in June 2009 with their celebration retirement party to be held in July.

As it turned out, Jay was able to retire from his job in November. He emailed me with their plans to hit the retirment road in their rig in April, so his last SE area campout would be in February and their big retirment bash will be in March.

The new Area Leaders will be introduced to the group on Sunday morning after the Coffman's retirement party on Saturday night (Retirement bash March 20-22nd @ Rayford Crossing).

A new schedule for the remainder of the year will be posted at that time. As always, the SouthEast area will host campouts at many of our favorite places located within a reasonable drive for the SE area campers and will include some new places that have recently opened up.
