Hi,

I was wondering if there are any family oriented camping groups that get together in the Costal Bend area (Corpus Christi area) ?

With our kids in school, we are pretty much limited to only weekend camping trips usually no further than about 2hrs at the most from home.

I notice plenty of activity from camping groups up near Dallas, Austin, Houston, Hill Country, ect. but absolutly NONE in my area.

TIA

Hi Tx Camper -

The Texas Boomers head down your way occasionally, but as far as having a group down your way, I'm sorry to say that we don't.

I plan 4-6 State wide rallies a year where Boomers from across the state meet up. The Hill Country, Northeast Texas and Southeast Texas Area Leaders plan gatherings in their area once a quarter or more often. Anyone is able to attend any of the Gatherings.

We just don't have enough campers in your neck of the woods to have a Coastal Bend area, but as we continue to grow with new attendees, it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

I would do an internet search for Texas Camping groups and sub define as Coastal Bend area and see what you come up with. In fact, I may do a search myself just to see what comes up!

Keep posting - there may be others "out there" on irv2.com that are in your area just looking for a place to get together.

Sandy

Thanks for the reply Madame Boomer. And if you get bored, have nothing else to do and decide to try doing that search it would be greatly appreciated............as I still have not really found anything in the Costal Bend area.

Thanks Again !

Sure, no problem.

Let me ask you some questions first to narrow down my suggestions.

1) Are you looking for more of a wooded state park setting or treeless concrete pad rows in an upscale RV resort with scheduled activites and facilities ?

2) Do you want to be very close to or even on the beach ?

3) What kind of facilities are you looking for ? (ie., full hook ups, water & electric, NONE.....we're going to boondock it baby!)

4) Do you plan to just stay at the site and relax / unwind / decompress /ect., or do you plan to be gone most of the time sightseeing ?

Let me know, and I can offer some suggestions for you. Keep in mind though, that most of the RV resorts / parks will be filled up with lots of "Winter Texans" around that time, so getting a site without a reservation far in advance may be difficult............. but not impossible.

TXcamper -

Everyone knows when to head south for the winters....every RV park in the State is full of snowbirds!

It makes it difficult to host a rally almost anywhere in the state and many RV parks will not host rallies between Thanksgiving and Easter because the parks are full!

If anyone is planning to go somewhere just for a short time, be sure to make reservations WELL IN ADVANCE.

TxCamper - I'll keep checking on Coastal Bend places for ya...haven't come up with anything yet!

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, work was very hetic this week.

Well, unfortunately here in the Corpus Christi area "wooded" & "beach" don't exist together.

Actually, to get any kind of real wooded area, you are going to have to look at places around Lake Corpus Christi (about 40 miles from Corpus Christi) or other areas away from Corpus (read: farther away from beach).

Let me know which you would prefer more, wooded area or beach. Then I can offer you some suggestions on places to stay.

And I promise I will reply much quicker this time. lol
