We are coming for the winter, 12/1 through 3/1 to Port Aransas. Someone said the whooly bugs and mosqoitos were bad. Any input or is this at a different time of year?

WOW! Now that is a Mosquito! I also heard that since you have had such a drought this year, the catfish even had ticks on em".

One of the other members told me that the ticks are so big, he saw one with a knife in one hand and a straw in the other.

Oh well, I will chance it, the mosquito population will be drastically reduced with my New Mexico Killem quick spray.

Buckeyes -

I'm sure there are all kinds of critters down here in South Texas that the rest of the world has never seen, but honestly I don't think you'll have a problem with "skeeters" that will swoop down and haul off the children!!! (Great pic Don!!!)

Texas did not have a drought this year! We have had so much rain/flooding that there is a problem with pesky flying things, but I suspect by the time you are here they'll be gone.

As for ticks...I've lived here all my life and carry my doggies all over Texas with me in the rv and have never had a problem with ticks. I'm sure if you get in the "nether regions" off the road in overgrown grass, you're more likely to get chiggers....now they are a different story! I'd rather have a tick that I can see and pluck off than to get chiggers!!!

All in all, my best advice is to bring bug spray and Benedryl (in cream or liquid and pill form).

Sandy
