Hi all
We are going to Galveston next week and stay
4 or 5 days before going on to Corpus Christi.
Heading out monday 10th and stay at Clear Springs,Wright Patman Lake. leave out Tue. or Wed. for Galveston. The one thing I have to see
is Battleship Texas. We need some other ideas
on things to do. We are going to try and stay at Galveston State Park. If any of you'all are around look for the pink chicken

While you're in Corpus Christi see the USS Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium. You can see them both the same day. They are almost next door to each other, but to get the full fun of seeing them both go to one on one day and the other the next.

Hey Heinz:
Don't forget to check out the San Jacinto Monument while you are there at the Battleship Texas. And on your way to Galveston spend some time in Kemah Tx. (between Battleship and Galveston on Hwy 146)Lots of good food and drink, plenty of shopping and sights to see. Then in Galveston just pick up one of those brochures. Moody Gardens, Seawall ect.
Have good trip Buddy

While in the Galveston area, don't miss the Johnson Space Center at Clear Lake. Well worth the time.

I don't know if it is still there, if it is if the food is the same. But there used to be a place there named "T-Bone Tommy's" that had some real good stuff.

Of course I am just a LITTLE biased on that one......

It was opened and owned by a relative of mine until he died a few years ago. I heard some of the employees bought it from the family and kept it open...

Have not been back since his service....... The family moved to Austin......

I wonder if it is still there???

I always enjoy taking the ferry ride over to the Bolivar Peninsula (the ferry is free) and going to the beach over there. It's much less crowded and less "touristy" than Galveston. There are some, shall we say, less sophisticated eatin' joints over on Bolivar as well.

Sandy suggested The Strand in Galveston as well as some of the homes that are open for tours. There's the Governor's Palace, etc......

Hi!

T-Bone Tom's Restaraunt is definitely still there and is wonderful as always. It's on Hwy 146 just south of of the intersection to Kemah "fun strip".

The official website to Galveston is

Scroll to the bottom to see the newest WI-FI spots.

Enjoy!

Consider a stop at the Aransas National Wildlife Reserve. Especially if you enjoy birding. A chance to see Whooping Cranes and many more migratory birds.

By the way Does anyone (Sandy) know what ever happened to our Texas flamingo that was in the Texas City area? Did he sober up and go home or what?

Buddy -

Refresh my memory I'm not sure exactly WHICH Texas City flamingo you're talking about! I generally know WHERE all the flamingoes are

By the way, ebay has a 50 ft blow up flamingo for bid!

I was not aware of that many "LIVE" flamingos in Texas! You remember, (even at your age CRS hasn't set in yet has it) That 1 poor stupid flamingo that either lost his bearings and got lost or had just been around too many of those chemical plants. There were several sightings around the Texas City area. Then I never heard any more about him....

Heinz577,

Just some info - the state park is quite a drive from the beaches, shopping etc. Not too many know it but Galvesto is a pretty large island and the state park is on the far south west side of it about as far as you can go.

We did some antiquing in Denham Springs, LA last week and found one shop that had about a dozen different pairs of ceramic flamingos. Pairs were about 18 - 20" and priced at $22.95. They were pretty nice looking but Bill wouldn't let me buy a pair.
