Just curious if any Boomers do Renfest? If so, would any of you be interested in doing a weekend there? Haven's Landing is nearby and is a great CG!

Hi there Tee and Dan,
We were at Rayford Crossing last year when we saw some couples that were staying at the park departing in their costumes for the Ren fest. We all thought it would be fun to go, so maybe we will plan a weekend gathering at either Haven's Landing or Rayford Crossing and go over to the festival. We haven't been to the festival in a couple of years, but we had a good time when we went.

Hey'all,
Check out Kris's schedule, a rally is already planned for the 'fest at Haven's Landing.

I looked up the dates for the renfest but they only showed the 2005 dates of Oct. 1-Nov. 20th.

The website for the festival is Press

Sorry Kris, I didn't check on your plans before. I think this would be a real blast!!

Tee / Jay

The Ren Fest was under my August posting for Hill Country Gatherings. I will call Havens Landing tommorrow to see if they can accommodate us. Not everyone has to go to the festival, but I was planning on the weekend of Oct 6th to the 9th. That Monday is a Bank Holiday, so Bob and I could spend Saturday and Sunday at the festival and come home Monday.

We ran ourselves ragged last year trying to see everything. So we thought this year we would go see the shows, and then the second day maybe shop. I bought most of my Xmas gifts there. It is really interesting to see the vendors making their products right there.

Just for information purposes, Bob and I do not dress up. Bob likes to people watch, while I shop.

Jay, The new schedule will probably appear in late April or May...It's always all of October and part of November...look at this site for more info as they keep fairly current with TRF events..http://www.trfbeefeaters.com/
They do not have the 2006 schedule yet but they will as soon as it comes out from TRF...
Enjoy! Cheers, Tee

I called Haven's Landing they can take us if we check out by 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. They have a large rally booked and we would need to vacate the spots.

Bob and I were planning on staying over till Monday. We may have to split up some to accomodate the later departures. I will double check on that.

Are there any other parks in the area we might want to look into?

Kris, I've never found any state parks close enough...but FYI, they do allow onsite, self contained parking at Renfest...they have a section for class A's and it's $5 bucks a day...or something close to that...it's just an empty clearing but it would save you from having to move on Sunday...we will be leaving by 11am that day...have to work to support our camping addiction! LOL

Kris,

Larry and I found a park not far from Ren Fest called Omega RV Park, I think we read that it is in Magnolia. We have never been there but want to check it out. You might want to look it up.

I will check with them. Bob and I have not done a lot of dry camping and am a little wary of that. Also, last year when we went, the morning after was not pretty.

Thanks, Jodi.
