Thinking of a pre-1995 unit just because of the unique coach design of those earlier units, combined with their high end features. Does anyone have a Foretravel unit of any vintage in Minnesota?

Where do you get them serviced short of the distant dealers in the Southern states? Any major problems inherent in these units?

Tom,
Sorry I didn't see your post till now, you have probably found something already. But I own a 1989 Foretravel Grand Villa, that I can give you some history on that could help you decide on a foretravel or not. I get about 10mpg at 65/70mph with a 3208 Catapillar eng. The interior has held together nicely and no rattles or squeeks going down the road. I have had to replace the rear brakes at $800 at 132,000 miles and I need a muffler at the moment. I had to put new gaskets in the fuel controler at 126,000 miles cost about $200. And of course new tires every 6 years or so. No blow outs so far. You don't get quickly fatigued driving one, they handle well, even in high winds with the sloped front end. If you get the bus style with the flat front the gas milage goes down a bit. The unihome series was good from 1990 to 1994 with several floor plans from 32ft to 40ft.
You can email me, or pm me here if I can help you out any.

Tom,
I too have nothing but good to report about these older Foretravel units. Our 1990 38 foot Grand Ville with a Detroit Deisel in the rear is a joy. We just finished almost 10,000 mile rambling cross country trip, the purpose being to marry off a daughter, and have a month long trip getting 12 miles per gallon, traveling in comfort, and driving probably the best handling rig on the road. The interior is finished as fine furniture.

Brad (Nhgeezer), Welcome to the IRV2 forums. We are glad to have you and hope you post often. There is a lot of info on the forums and a lot of good folks here, too.

Enjoy - Glenn
