Looking for some information (comments pro/con) about Fort Clark RV Park. We are currently in Maine workamping and will be heading to Florida for the winter (most of it) in October. We want to do a month in Texas and just kick back. Fort Clark looks very inviting (golf, pool) and from what I can find out it appears to be pretty well kept and just enough to do. We are going to head that way and spend March enjoying the Texas hospitality until we head back up to Maine via Maryland for the summer. Any and all comments wold be appreciated.

Guess no one from the Texas group has ever been to Fort Clark - made reservations for March and will just do it and pass through Texas on the way back North.

I'm sorry you didn't get any feedback.

We live northwest of San Antonio and have been to FCS a couple of times over the years, but not to camp. It's a long drive!
I remember the resort as well kept with a nice park area for picnics, but I did not see the RV park.
Other than the resort's activities, the movie set for The Alamo and the fort itself, I don't know that there's much to see or do in that area.......... you might "google" Bracketville to see what comes up.
If you would like info about San Antonio and the Hill Country, there are a number of folks on this forum who live and/or camp in this part of Texas.
Good luck!
Cali

We were at a rally at FCS in April 2005 and really enjoyed ourselves. The RV park is nice and I don't remember but seems to me the sites were grass with dirt roads. There is a covered BBQ pit and a nice meeting room with a kitchen. I remember nothing about a laundry or the restrooms so I guess they must have been ok. The staff was very nice and very helpful.

Wild turkeys were in abundance and really not afraid of people at all. There is plenty of deer and other wildlife. The fort is a nature preserve I believe.

In the winter it will probably be a tad chilly to swim since the pool is a spring fed one but it is a beautiful pool for sure. The golf course has a small snack bar and the food is typical of a snack bar.

The fort is very pretty and peaceful and a great place to walk or ride bikes. The residents all get around on golf carts.

We went to Del Rio to Walmart and there is enough other stuff there to fill most needs. There also is Laughlin AFB in Del Rio and they have a nice FAMCAMP, BX and comissary. It's a small base but nice. This is about a 30 minute drive from the fort.

Right outside the fort in Brackettville there wasn't a whole lot happening but I do remember a small grocery and a gas station. Oh there was also an ice cream stand

San Antonio is about a 2 hour drive I believe, maybe further.
