On the sign up thread, I mentioned to be sure to bring your FISHING POLES! The campground is on the river so you can't get any closer to fishing than that!

A BRILLIANT IDEA
When I mentioned this, I had a brilliant idea! Who is experienced in a FISH FRY for Friday night supper?

I can just smell the catfish on the plate as I'm typing this and we can add sides to make a great meal!

Where do you get catfish - how do you fry it up? Surely someone out there has an answer!

Sandy

I don't know where you get the catfish unless someone has a lot in their freezer. There is bound to be a place to buy it, though. I do know that you use a propane type fryer - like a turkey frier. Fried catfish sounds great!!!

Frozen catfish can be bought in bulk at Sam's Club. Breaded or unbreaded.

It sounds like a plan is in the making! I know Bob Wurch does fish frys for his motorcycle group. When he gets back from Arkansas I'll give him a yell and get the scoop on what is needed!

Sandy

PS: On Saturday night, we'll be doing our annual GARBAGE CAN DINNER so the big pots will come in handy. For that we'll need wood to build a big fire. The campground has what is called an EVENT BBQ pit - which is huge.

Ifn we are going to have a true Sourthern catfish fry Friday night, then we need breaded catfish, hush puppies, french fries, hot oil in deep fryers to cook it in, tartar sauce, ketchup, coleslaw, and that's all.

This sounds like a good plan to me, but we only have TWO big pots. Anyone else out there with a big pot!

Don, I need to contact the RV Park. I know they have a big EVENT grill. Not sure if it takes charcoal or wood - or both. They also have a fire pit, but need to find out more about it - will it hold several big pots, etc.

Will get back to you!

Sandy,
I now have a turkey fryer and will pick up hush puppies and french fries and fry them Friday night. I understand that Bob Wurch will be bringing and frying the catfish. All we need now is coleslaw and desserts.

I still plan to bring fire wood to cook the Garbage can dinner on Sat Night.

Hey Guys; Since Murray lives in Bastrop I doubt very seriously he needs to bring his rig over. But he plans on bringing a bunch of fish and his cooker over to do some cooking and eat with us. I will probably come over early to help and have Susan drive over when she gets off work. So what time are yall thinking of having this shindig start?

Buddy -

Tell EK and Carolee to just come on over! Bob Wurch and several others are bringing their big fryers and will be doing up a mess of catfish. I suspect that we'll be eating around 6:30 - 7:00 pm - will wait to a little later so everyone who's coming will be able to get there and get set up before supper.

If EK wants to bring over his fryer and do up a mess of catfish, that's great!

Sandy
