Hey folks we know it is hot in August but that is no reason not to go RVing. So Jay, Kristi and I thought we would have a Texas Boomers Joint Area Gathering at the Bastrop River RV Resort in Bastrop on 17-19 August.

It is a real nice park right on a river and has a nice rally hall. Thought we'd have a mixer Friday night with snacks, do some outdoor BBQing Sat night (brisket & sausage) with pot luck side dishes, and pastries and coffee Sunday morning before we depart.

We have reserved 20 sites for that weekend so if you would like to get together in Aug please sign up here.

If you live in Texas, you already know it's hot! but as long as the rally hall is open and cool - with some refreshments and a game or two - I say "go for it".

I'll sign up early and see if I can maneuver a vacation day to get there...ha! It's only a 2 hour drive for us on the NW side. Heck, if persuaded, RustyJC, just might be able to be sick that day.

Remember the "bird" that flew the coop the last time we were there! It WASN'T a pink flamingo either! Maybe we can look for it! The last I heard, they still hadn't caught that bird!

Maybe Chuck and Maggie will bring the parrot zoo and lure him in.

Well folks we thought it was a good idea but guess it is just not appeasling to go RVn in the heat of summer.

In view of the fact that we only haver 4 signed up by this date and the National is on the horizon, I am gonna cancel the reservation with Bastrop River and tell them we'll try it again at another time.

Alan and Randee Saber would like to attend. We've missed a few rallies and gatherings already. Thanks for arranging this, sounds great! I'll look for the meal sign up sheet.

Sorry it was cancelled. It sounded like fun. What did people do in the olden days before air conditioning? I'm quite sure they still went camping, even in Texas. I heard you had a gathering in Beaumont awhile back and it was freezing, so what's the difference.

Forgot to mention how very cold it was for the New Years rally. I'd rather be hot, but that's my preference.

I agree Randee I will go camping anytime, but we needed at least 10 to sign up to get the Rally Hall and since I posted this a few weeks ago there just didn't seem to be much interest. The Labor Day Rally in Burleson is only a couple of weeks after that and I am sure Madame Boomer will be putting out a sign up for that one pretty soon. So hope to see you and Alan at that one.

Hi Don, thanks for your reply. I froze my ___off at Rayford Crossing this past New Years. Do you think you gave it enough time for people to sign up before cancelling? The gathering wasn't until mid-August. Just a suggestion, I belong to another RV group that sends out one or two emails to the entire membership reminding them of upcoming rallies and to sign up for them on the RV website. People get busy and forget to look on the website. We won't be at the Labor Day rally, we're going on a cruise out of NY and up to Nova Scotia.
