I hope all of you Gulf Coast RVers manage to drag up anchor and head for the high country. This sounds like a really bad one.

25 members of my family who live in New Orleans, many of them right by Lake Ponchartrain, evacuated last night, and may be on their way to Texas and elsewhere.
There have been some false alarms in the past few months, but you're right, Ken....this one sounds serious. Pray for the safety of our gulf coast friends, family, and fellow RV'rs.

Mary

We have a spare bedroom if they come to SA. Of course, we are leaving Thursday for Big B Rally. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Kris,
Your offer is very kind...Sandy and Rusty have also offered shelter in Houston. We are planning to make it to the BIG TRIP, too, even as family may be arriving. It will just be more room for them if we're gone.
If New Orleans does flood and the residents cannot go home for (weeks?) I hope the RV'n 'Louisiana Boomers' know that we Texas Boomers will help in any way we can.
Thanks and see you soon!

I can only say Good Luck, and God Bless, as this storm approaches our Southern Friends. Hopefully all won't be as bad as predicted. Take care, and be safe.....

Mary,

I have a hook up for an RV in my back yard if some of your family needs an RV site, I also have two extra bed rooms free right now as the kids are gone to college. Let us know if we can help.

Thank you.....I'm so touched by all the generous offers. We have about 22-26 family members arriving here in San Antonio sometime in the middle of the night tonight. My neighbors have offered guest rooms and we have lots of donations of blankets and pillows for the floor. It's gonna be one big slumber party.
Of course, they are arriving only with what they had time to grab, a few clothes, and their insurance papers, one cousin remembered to take her wedding album.
Otherwise, they are all literally starting over.
But their lives have been spared, and we have alot of LOVE to live on.

Thanks again, Boomer friends!

thanks to all who expressed concerns for fellow members of iRV2.com and their extended families. I know we are among the lucky ones who have the benefits of the RV lifestyle which enabled so many to escape the prolonged misery wrought by Katrina in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Several members have been directly impacted, and like myself, are still waiting for the chance to go to our homes and asses damages/retreive belongs. Others, namely W5IT and KIWI, are being overloaded by work as a result of this storm. BUT WE ARE THE LUCKY ONES!! So many have lost everything that our losses and other inconviences don't amount to a flicker on our computer screens. Please give generously, and offer to help someone if you get the chance. Evacuees are literaly scattered all over America, and it will be months before many can go "home" if they even have one to go back to. ED
