I don't know what anyone else is going to do about the hurricane, but I have already called Rayford Crossing to reserve the site that I was planning to use this weekend for our gathering.

I don't know yet where the storm will come in, but I figure that being at RC is better than being at home. At least I'm 74 miles inland, and surrounded by tall trees and if it doesn't come into Galveston, I'm already in my site for this weekend.

I'm not trying to frighten anyone, but am taking a lesson from our friends and neighbors in Louisiana.

Jay,
Judy and I are going up tomorrow the 20th. If it gets real bad we will be past Houston and can go further north.

Just another heads up, if ya have not fueled up today ya may want to get that done as well and stay topped off. I went this afternoon to fill up the MH and I can tell ya it was a madhouse at the pumps. Oh yes the price will be going up, they are already shutting down rigs etc. in the gulf. Be careful out there. We are gonna hold off for another day and decide then where and what to do. Anybody have trouble out there dont hesitate to shout at me.

Dottie and I were going on a group trip to Coushatta Weds and back Thurs. The trip has been cancelled, and we are making plans to become evacuees.

Just watched the latest prediction of the track for Rita. Of course it's still early yet but the latest is once hits the gulf going to cat3 moving towards Beaumont/Lafayette area. I hope not. Sure would be nice if it would just fizzle out and leave the states alone. We have had enough devastation along the gulf coast. Oil rigs are already being secured, guess what's left of them, and evacuated. I'm hopeing that the predictions are wrong this time.

Rita became a cat 1 Hurricane this morning and is heading for the Gulf at 15 MPH.

My older Siser lives in a 38 foot travel trailer on Matagorda Bay near Port Lavaca. I am heading to her place tomorrow to help her evacuate if it becomes necessary. Plan to pull the trailer up to the LaGrange Area.

The projection from the NWS this morning (for what it's worth) show Rita making landfall just east of Matagorda Bay. If it stays that far down the coast, we'll just ride it out at home (NW of Houston). Heck, we may have my sister and her family come up here from the Victoria area!

I just looked at the NOAA storm tracker and got an email from my daughter from UTMB in Galveston, and they both seem to be pointing the storm toward Corpus Christi.

I don't think I'm going to change my plans, and take the trailer to Rayford Crossing tonight and then return there if I am released from work early. That way I am a few miles further north if I have to evacuate, or in place for the weekend, although I don't know if anyone else, besides Harry and Judy, is still coming for the weekend.

Jay,

Sorry to cancel but Spring is just not far enough away for us! We are going to Uvalde with other family members to a place called Red Oak, they have cabins and RV sites on the Nueces River.

Sorry we will not make Rayford Crossing again! You guys have fun and be very safe!

Jodie and Larry, I certainly understand. We're going back to the park today to pick up the trailer. No decision on where we'll go now.

We awoke this morning to hear that Rita is now a class 4 storm. Everyone please be safe. We are keeping in touch with our daughter that lives on the west side of Houston. She is planning to evacuate soon and her husband has been ask to stay and work at a hospital in Sugarland.

Vaya con Dios, all ya'll.

Pat and myself made it to Burleson this morning ( RV Ranch again) figured this is far enough North for awhile. Just seen the update here and its up to 165. I am really concerned about the storm surge for where Harry and myself live.
