Hey you all (pardon the you all spelling) just want to say I hope everything goes well with each and everyone of you through this problem with Ike. Everybody please take care and let us know how things work out. We'll be praying for the best. I realize Tulsa is a bit far to the north but if you need a place to stay, I have room for a number of RV's.

Good luck!

Tom,

I believe Ken and Susan headed out with the "twinkie" in tow for Bastrop earlier this afternoon. Susan's parents were going with them. We're planning on sticking it out here in NW Harris county - wind and subsequent power outages are our biggest concern here.

Were doing the same as Rusty and Sandy. Just batten down the hatches and wait it out.

Stella left and went with some friends to Breaux Bridge La. because I have to stay at work. I would like to wish everyone the best and hope there is little damage.

We're like Sandy and Rusty, buttoned down as much as possible, the rig is in storage, secured and blocked as well as we could. Doesn't look real good but will have to wait and see, wind and power outages are are main concern. NW area of Houston.

Guys,
Hope you are all safe and sound during this thing. Please note--we have room for a couple of rigs if needed. Not paved (but Chuck has tractors to pull you out if you get stuck) and only 30 amps. We expect a lot of rain and wind but you are welcome if you need a place.

Hi All -

Thanks for the well wishes from our northern buddy, Vette Racer and really appreciate the offer to hunker down at the Parrot Zoo place!

Jay, please stay safe...if you need a place to head to once you are released from duty....we have plenty of room! Glad Stella is way outa the direct line!

Skeetshooter - ya'll stay safe too - you're a little further north than we are, but still Ike's packing a punch!

The Wurch's are hunkering down like the rest of us. Haven't heard from many of the others, but hopefully those in the low lying areas like the Menschs, Talbotts and others are "outta Dodge" by now.

We'll keep in touch as long as possible hoping the winds won't get too bad and we don't lose power!

Sandy

Send a message via Skype™ to Barbara S.
I sat in traffic for 22 hours with Rita so I am staying home this time. My house is just down the road from Sandy & Rusty so my concerns are the same - flooding in the area and loss of power after the storm. I do not want to sit here in a dark house, so then I will get the motorhome and go in search of power.

We are settled in at Bastrop RV Park and waiting it out. So far here it is hot and sunny...98 dF here yesterday.

Krista has already raided our garage and commandeered our generator and gas cans. Told her fine, BUT when we come home, the generator comes home as well.

And Tom, the plural form of y'all is "all y'all."

Gayle and Tommy Nelson, our good friends from Alabama just sent this to me a little while ago....it's funny and maybe will help to lighten the tensions all of us on the coast are feeling right about now.

Top Ten Reasons Hurricane Season Is Like Christmas

Number Ten:
Decorating the house (with plywood).

Number Nine:
Dragging out boxes that haven't been used since last season.

Number Eight:
Last minute shopping in crowded stores.

Number Seven:
Regular TV shows pre-empted for 'Specials'.

Number Six:
Family coming to stay with you.

Number Five:
Family and friends from out of state calling you.

Number Four:
Buying food you don't normally buy . . . and in large quantities.

Number Three:
Days off from work.

Number Two:
Candles.

And the Number One reason Hurricane Season is like Christmas:

At some point you're probably going to have a tree in your house!

How true, how true it is! Thanks Gayle (who's been through this before) for the comic relief...from one that Ike is her first!

Sandy

Let me add that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. For anyone who decides that they need a spot to park their RV at the last minute and cannot find one, we have space for a couple and electric for at least one. Just let me know and I'll provide directions. The current models have us out of the direct path so the worst that we are expecting in the DFW area is some heavy rains - and maybe not even that.

Charlie and Maggie -

Your offers are so welcomed and indicative of the Texas Boomer spirit!

At this point in time, we are "hunkered down" and will ride out the major brunt. However, the long term effects are the most worrisome.

We are going to lose power and although I enjoy "roughing it" for a day or so, if it appears that power won't be restored for weeks (as they've said might happen) then we'll hit the road in the rv as soon as its safe to travel.

It is a wonderful feeling to know that Boomers are there to shelter us if needed!

Sandy
