We are looking for iRV2.com members and guests who would like to join in an informal rally to "meet and greet" each other. If you would be interested in such an oportunity, please reply to this thread. If we can get enough responce, I will seek the assistance of experienced rally hosts ( W5IT-hint, hint) to plan an event. Looking forward to a start of good things to come, so please reply with your interest and/or suggestions. THANK YOU, Ed.

C'mon Texas Boomers...let's invade Louisiana and exchange some good southern hospitality with one another. The Palmers would definitely be interested in rallying there.

Well the early responce is great! I can see I was a little short-sighted in regards to not extending the invitation to our neighboring states. Looks like some of you ARE willing to travel to "pass a good time" The original thought of holding a "first ever" rally for La. based members can certainly be expanded to accomodate members from points beyond.

AND A BIG WELCOME to iRV2.com to maltruck8 We just spent a nice, but soggy, Memorial Day weekend at Parker's Landing near you at the Woolmarket exit.

Therefore: Let the planning begin! I'm making a list of all who reply and will contact each of you when more details can be announced.

ALL interested members & guests please add to this thread with your replies. ED

Well here goes my first shot at a location that is more or less in the middle of the state. That way our Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Arkansas folks can possibly attend.

Lafayette, LA.

It is at the intersection of two interstates. I-10 and I-49. Kind of in the middle on the southern part of the state. Of course the fact it is also smack dab in the middle of "Acadiana" is another plus.

There is a campground named "Bayou Wilderness" at the second exit on I-49 from I-10. It has just about everything you would want for a gathering. Nice little park. Just not as many trees as I like. Fifty amp full hookups with cable, swimming pool for the youngsters and a restaurant named Prejeans just a couple miles away. Prejeans would be a Saturday night must! As every Frday and Saturday, they have a live "Chank-ie-chank" (True Cajun) band. For those that like to "Play the pony's" there is a horse racing track right nest to Prejeans.

Just an Idea. If folks want it more toward New Orleans I would lean toward either Fairview Riverside or Fontainebleau State parks. Bayou Signette is nice, but I think it would be a hassle for folks from out of town. Hwy 90 traffic would surely test folks.

I got more ideas and places that would work just as well. There is a "City Park" in Coshatta, LA that I attended another rally at that is some kind of nice. But for a weekend getaway it would be fairly "Off the beaten path" for folks not from the area.

Crank up those keyboards yall and lets "Get it rollin". Figure out about what part of the state we want to do it, then lets work on a time of the year and date.

AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!

From some complaints I've been reading, I-10 from Laf'y to Texas is SOOO bad, they won't make it . But then again, I-10 from Miss. to NOLA is a roller coaster, too. So all our friends to the east need to use I-12.

What do you think about Lakeside or Paragon??

Don/Ed
Depending on the time/date, Kris and I would definitely be interested. Will watch to see what y'all (Texas term) come up with.
(Don, pardon my lack of info on some of your towns, but did you by chance mean Kinder (Grand Coshatta)LA, or am I just not having any luck with Coshatta, LA.)

If the always on going construction doesn't shut the travel time down to bad on I 10, just about place is doable, that was mentioned.

Good luck to both of you on what your trying to do!!!!!!

Best,

No Bob I am talking about the Town of Coushatta.

Map Quest Link

Lakeside would be ok. Even better if it is on one of the weekends of the "Lakeside Opry". But the big flea market just down the road may be TOO tempting for some.

Lakeside is only about 35-45 minutes away from my house.... Would make it REAL easy for me.

Paragon in Marksville would be "Too far off the beaten path" for many in my opinion. But it is a nice facility. Been there several times. Once for a "Good Sam" Rally and a couple of times for the yearly "Pow Wow".

I am just trying to look out for folks who may come from a ways away. Make it a place close to a Interstate with easy access.

That's why I lean toward the Lafayette area. Lots in the area, but easy for folks to get to.... Kind of "In the middle" so to speak if folks are coming from TX, MS and the like.

Chet "AaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhEEeeeeeeeeeeee" is to a "Swamp thing" what "WoooooooooHoooooooo" is to a Texan.

Ya KNOW they are having a good time when you hear either.

And yes, I do get carried away at times. But I tried to do this over five years ago and there was not enough interest. In fact Cathy Jo (From Nederland) and I talked about it at length. She wound up getting the Texas gathering down by where she lived going. She held it in the Eastern part of Texas in hopes some others from Louisiana would be able to make it as well. I was not able to make it due to it being a weekend I was working at the Power Plant. There were several folks that showed up. That group is now known as "The Texas Boomer's".

We have done three (Bubba) rallies that was primarily made up of folks from the RV.NET that we (Innovative) sponsored. But could never seem to get Louisiana folks from here cranked up...

See why I am so excited about it (A Louisiana Rally) of IRV2.COM folks from the surrounding areas to FINALLY become a reality?????

Guess which RV business is gonna participate in this one as well???
