We are desperately in need of some global warming here in North Texas. It is only 40 degrees here at 6:30pm. It is forecasted to dip into the mid-20s by morning.

The weatherpeople sucker me in like this every year. A couple of days ago, the forecast was for only a brush with freezing before this coming weekend and that was supposed to have happened last night. I figured that I could winterize the RV on Saturday and everything would be fine. Now, they are saying that we will be well down in the 20s a couple of times before Saturday morning. Oops! So just I buttoned everything up and set the furnace to come on to protect the pipes. I have all of the tanks drained so it is just a matter of pushing the rest of the water out of the pipes with some low pressure compressed air. No big deal but very necessary.

The worse part of the forecast is that dreaded 4 letter word. S...N..O..W.
Yuck! I moved to Texas and that durned stuff follows me here. We had a passing flurry two days ago, just like i like it - enough to wet the grass and gone in two hours. Tomorrow, DW and DD are supposed to be on a flight to Philadelphia at 6:45am Anyone taking bets that I have a white road to drive on to get them there? The worst part will be holding my breath to see if their plane actually takes off. I know that planes fly out of snowy places all of the time but I'm not optimistic that tomorrow will go as it might with a similar amount of the white, nasty stuff in say Greenbay.

I'm not a greedy man. Just ship about 10 degrees of that global warming in here over night and I'll be really grateful.

If it snows tomorrow in Houston as expected (3" to 5" of wet snow is forecast),

1. It will be the earliest snowfall on record (the previous record was December 10th).

2. It will be the first time Houston has ever had measurable snowfall in two consecutive winters.

That certainly doesn't look like global warming to me.

Charlie, close that gate up there...the cold air is made it to my house already. Enough of this winter stuff, I'm ready for spring.

I agree with Ken! The weather this past weekend was nice for sitting around a campfire. This cold stuff they are predicting for tomorrow and Friday is not fun. People in Houston do not know how to drive in snow or freezing rain. I'm sure I will enjoy seeing snow at my house, but I will also be glad when it is gone and warmer weather returns. Brrrrr......

Well, as I sit here and looking out the window, it is 41 dF and snowing lightly for the past 45 minutes 20 miles NW of Houston. Supposed to be mid 20's here tonight. Guess I'll have to make sure the trailer is warm for the night.

O.K. folks this is enough winter, you folks up north can take YOUR weather back now.

Rusty, my motorhome is in a completely enclosed storage one block from your house. Do you think I need to go over there and turn on the heat inside?

It's hard to say. They're forecasting a hard freeze with a low of 23 degF overnight, so if it were sitting outside, you would probably want some heat to protect the pipes. With it in a fully enclosed building, it will probably be OK, but it just depends how well the building retains heat. It shouldn't get as cold for as long as it would outside. Ours is under roof at the RV storage lot and the north, east and west sides are covered, but the south side is wide open.

Thanks! It has an "Artic package" switch. Maybe I will go turn that on. I wish I had done that last night when I put it in the storage. Hindsight is wonderful.
