Vickie and I, and a couple of freinds are planning a trip to the San Antonio area. We have 2 time frames. One is April 4 thru April 17, the other is April 23 thru May 8. Can anyone give us reasons for one over the other, such as temps, bad crowding, something we shouldn't miss, ect? Vickie can get off either and the other wife can also. Us guys don't work a regular job so are more flexible. I have heard of Feista San Antonio, not sure of the dates, don't even know it it fits either period. Any help will be appreciated, Later, Nat

Looks like you will be coming down on dates on either side of San Antonio's Fiesta events. Fiesta runs for 10 days 15 - 24 April and is loaded with many parades and festivals throughout the city. You can check out this web site for planning purposes: www.fiesta-sa.org/

Jim, I appreciate the link, as usual, a day late and a dollar short. These are the only times the girls can get away. Is there anything else I need to look out for?

Other than Fiesta, I'm not aware of anything else that would drive you to one set of dates over the other. You won't go wrong with spending some time on the river walk, seeing some of the hill country and maybe a trip to the coast (the weather should be pretty nice).

Jim, Vickie and I spent 3 weeks there a couple years ago, and think it is the premier vacation spot we have been to. From Fredricksburg To SA is one of the prettiest areas we have seen. I love Riverwalk, we talked so much about it that our friends want to go with us, so TX will be invaded by NC in April

There is a dance hall in Gruene which is a good place on the weekends. Also need to go to Luckenbach while in the area. A number of caves and caverns to see, Wildseed Farms between Johnson City and Fredricksberg. There is so much to see and do in the area.

Up on Lake Buchanan there is the Vanishing River Cruise.

Have fun.

With the weather we have been having, the Bluebonnets and wild flowers are already blooming. So, a trip through the "Hill Country" would be a nice trip. Make sure you get to Gruene for BBQ or a steak at the "Grist Mill". Good luck and have a Safe trip!

Thanks, Ken,Marilyn and Bob
Funny you should mention bar-b-que. I watched a program on the travel chanel just last night on that very subject. They started in my hometown of Lexington, NC where the world's best bar-b-que is made then went to Tenn,Tx, and the Kansas City. I bet I get some responce from TX with that statement,ha ha!!! Where is the best place near Boerne to get a brisket BBque? As we have lived here and been told all our life that Lexington style BBque is the best we want to try a brisket and form our own opinions while we are there.
I was hoping the flowers would be in bloom, as Vickie loves flowers, not that I don't, but she gets a special kick out of them. Nice to here that.
Ken, since moving to OK have you been to Whitchata (sp) wildlife perserve? On our first trip west that is the first place that made it seem that the west was really different from the south. Standing on top of Mt. Scott, I think it is , you could see an awfully long way. Here in NC, when you stand on top of our Mts, you can see clouds, or other mts.
Thanks, Nat
