This is Cami. She has been a part of our household since last Saturday. Six months ago, a Shih Tzu rescue worker found her in an animal shelter, just hours away from "the needle." She spent those six months with her foster "Mom" waiting for some family to adopt her.

She is about a 3 year old Shih Tzu/Yorkshire mix according to her information. We think she has strong Pekingese heritage, too. She is very well house broken and has bonded well with Judy. She just has neurotic "man syndrome" and doesn't want to be around me yet. She and I are making good progress but it will be months before she is ever anxious to see me. I'll be happy when she doesn't run out of the room as I walk in.

You can plan on seeing her at our next Rally visit. Unfortunately, due to my work schedule, I'm not sure which one that is going to be just yet.

Charlie

Oh Charlie -

She's ADORABLE! I can see why she pulled the right heartstrings and go into a new home with people who will love and care for her!

Her obvious fear of men probably relates to a bad experience she's had in the past. It'll take awhile for her to warm up to you, but when she does, she'll be by your side forever!

Her face is definitely Shih Tzu, but she appears to be a little taller than the average for the breed. Yorkshires and Pekinese are smaller too. Cami looks like she has longer legs!

Regardless.......congratulations on the new addition to your family and GOD BLESS YOU for watching out for those unable to care for themselves!

Sandy

She is a beautiful Pup. Glad she ended up with a loving family. Can't wait for her to meet up with Cricket.

Cami is SO cute! Congratulations! My two dogs are both from a rescue group plus I have been fostering dogs for them the last three years. They make wonderful companions. My male dog was rather standoffish (is that a word?) when I first got him, but now he follows me everywhere. Hang in there and Cami will come around too.

Cami looks like a Shih Tzu on stilts. Charlie, she's adorable and a very fortunate girl to have found a home with y'all. Thanks for giving her a chance for a good life.

Rescue dogs seem to know that they chosen and given a second chance. She will settle in and accept you.

Our Belle was definately my wifes dog fro the first 3 or 4 weeks and then my wife had to spend a month in Houston with her sick Dad. Belle soon decided that I was not so bad after all.

She is a cutie.

It's amazing how quickly a dog can warm up to someone when they figure out that person controls their food bowl!

Sometimes it is more than food. Yesterday, our son's miniature schnauzer (the black one that we've had along on a couple of Boomer rallies) came to visit. Judy was out shopping. Cami decided that she needed "protection" from this intruder and came into my office, putting her paws up on my leg. I ended up scratching both sets of ears for a little while. Cami is definitely getting better around me but still runs away occasionally if I approach her while standing.

Yep, she has has long legs all right and she can easily outrun the schnauzer (who weighs almost 3 times as much). Amazingly, someone taught her the obedience commands, including the hand signals and she will respond some of the time to them.

Judy reminds me every day that Cami is just the dog that she was looking for. Finding her has worked out very well for all of us.

Just a quick update. Cami has been with us now for 4 weeks. She had her first trip in the MH this past weekend. She was not a happy camper on Friday for the ride down. She just wanted to quiver and hide under the seat. After a couple of days, she was bouncing up and down the stairs on her own and curled up to sleep on the couch on the way home, even through all of the bouncing that is part of Route 360 in Arlington. What a difference!

Judy had her to the vet today and she truly has come a long way. From the 8lbs that she weighed when she was first rescued, she is up to 11 lbs - and what the vet thinks is a perfect weight for her. She and I are now great friends, even though she is and will probably always be a "mommy's girl." She gives every outward sign that she is healthy and happy.

We had no idea how lucky we were when we picked her. We were as lucky to find her as she was to find us. It is an absolute pleasure turning her into a spoiled dog. We look forward to sharing her with our Boomer friends in March.

Charlie

Rescue animals are always grateful to be with people who care for them. I have two that I have adopted from Houston Sheltie Sanctuary plus I got a new dog from them to foster last week. I sure do get attached to those foster dogs, but it is heartwarming when they go to a happy new forever home. I am looking forward to meeting Cami!

I know my Roxie remembers the day she chose me to be her new owner. I try to stay away from shelters, I would have most of them at home with Roxie (Deputy of God) along with the two cats I have also.
